Thanks Dick. I am going to try to buy some of that tinted sunblock. Do you wear it? If you do, do people notice it?

Makeup Assistance!

Some of you mentioned that you use makeup to hide the reddness and bumbs and i was just wondering what brand/type. I've tried one or two brands but I don't know alot about makeup so am really clueless.

I have KP on my upper arms and back. Just like everyone else I have tried everything and then some! I am still attempting many of the suggestions that I have read on this forum but time is of the essence. I am getting married on Aug 4, 2007 and will do anything to have normal looking skin for just one day! Even if I am just covering it with makeup. The condition of my bumbs have improved but the reddness is still very persistance.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Tanning..... I know it's taboo....

Hello. My name is Kamren. I've had KP my entire life.... it was certainly worse when I was a kid. I know it's not recommended but I've found that the best treatment for my kp has always been uv light. It helps with the redness and the bumps. I don't go so far as to use the fancy tanning oils/accelerators... I use alot of cocoa butter cream before and after I tan to minimize my skin drying out and looking old. If you haven't tried a good month of tanning yet... I would highly recommend it. Good luck

tinted sunscreen

Hey, the only tinted sunscreen I have tried is the Eucerin one which works perfectly for me. What i do is I put it on and rub it in before I go to sleep, that way in the morning it has already sunk in and its not sticky. Then in the morning I add a tad more and it works the whole day unless i swim or shower. I hardly will rub off when I sweat, unless i sweat tons. For some reason it lowers the sweating from my cheeks.

Yeah i wear it Philmore, as a guy i think its good, not great but good at covering redness. Be sure not to put too much on though because excessive rubbing can irritate your skin. Also, it goes on easier if you use little cream with it. Personally, I think its better than Eucerin. Give it a try.

Awesome.

mpwisdom, do you have redness on your cheeks?

If you do, you should ask your wife if she is having her makeup done by a professional. If she is, then go along and have them do it for you. I guarentee if you hire a good makeup artist, you can get amazing, natural looking results.

Makeup also needs to be applied in layers. Starting first with a light mosturizer, next add a foundation that matches your normal skin tone, then a powder that is a bit lighter. Just keep it all very thin and blended well. Make sure you are in a well lit room preferably with flourescent lighiting.

If you have KP bumps on your cheeks, make sure they are gone before putting makeup on or you will get a rough gloppy look.

it looks like the only option available for red cheeks is laser treatment. I would never wear makeup but thats just me.
It is very depressing... I hardly go out anymore and never ask chicks out because of my stupid red cheeks... my buddies used to call me rosey cuz of this curse.

I wish I had some money so I could afford this laser treatment I dont see why insurance does not cover it... my cheeks and ears kill sometimes and I live in AZ where I can only be outside for a little while in the summer.

Can anyone recommend any other good sunblocks? Im going to try the ones already mentioned but I heard Cliniques super city block is pretty good... any feedback?

I know what you mean marcinko, Im 20 and have trouble asking girls on dates too because of my condition. I live in CA and go to Cal Poly which has tons of hot girls, but this disorder holds you back. Im going to pursue photodynamic therapy soon though.

If you get rid of the bumps on your cheeks and get a light makeup you can really hide a good ammount of the redness.

People don't need to look like porcelain china dolls, because redness in the cheeks is natural.

About some women. Some women like men that wear makeup. Most actors wear it all the time, (Elija Wood, Brad Pitt...) You don't need to feel depressed or homosexual, I don't. Go ask a perfessional how to apply it and then just be a ****ing man and do it.

I'll post pictures of me with and without makeup soon. You can be the judge.

One last thing. My brother also has KPRF, I use moisturizers and eat healthy and try to take better care of my skin, while he does nothing for his KPRF. His KPRF is much worse. Keep treating it.
