Hyperthyroidism part of the problem?

I discovered one of the things that makes me really hate life is when I feel like my whole body is burning up, but my face most of all, and my whole face not just my cheeks. I always thought I just had KPRF and that was it, but I put in the symptoms "always feel hot" into Google and one of the first hits was about Hyperthyroidism.
You can just look it up yourself, but I will write the basics about it here. Your thyroid regulates your metabolism. If it is overactive, your whole body is always on overdrive. Symtoms of it I think many KPRF people also experience are sensitivity to heat, anxiety, facial flushing, and increased heart rate.
There are more symptoms than this, but still I thought hyperthyroidism may have some connection, at least for some people here, with the problems with their skin.

I also have fast HR but I think it's related to high anxiety level.

Test results - I don't have it

Well, I went to the doctor and had the full gamut of tests done, and the results are I don't have hyperthyroidism, or diabetes. The only thing I have is an abnormal heartbeat, but I have been to the cardiologists before about it and they said it's nothing to worry about.

I guess it's back to the drawing board.

Tanaka you posted something along time ago about an acne supplement called vilantae that helped with redness. People responded to your post but you irresponsibly ignored them. Did it help with facial redness or not?

I have a fast heartrate as well. It's not because of simple anxiety for me, it's cuz I'm insane. I'm also incredibly thin and couldn't gain weight if I tried. My skin turns red very easily, face, hands, feet, the works. I have looked into HT but haven't talked to any doctors. I wouldn't even know who to talk to anyway. BE THE FIRST!

Ouch, sorry. I went back and replied to it. This is what I said:

I am definetely sure the redness on my cheeks is from KPRF. The vitamins do seem to help somewhat. Every now and then I stop taking them to see what happens, and the KPRF does seem to get a little worse. There is a chance it is in my head, but I have tried doing this about 4 or 5 times so I think it does help a little. A little, but something.

Hi,

You caught my attention with the comments about thyroid and inability to gain weight. My 18-year old has chronic inflammation on his face and ears and is very thin, along with always having a low temperature. We have been to too many dermatologists and doctors trying to find out what's wrong. Our latest venture is with a well-respected MD/Naturopath who is investigating several things, but he told us my son had a low T3 thyroid hormone and high "reverse T3" which blocks the T3 from working properly. He has him on "Cytomel" for this. He also thinks my son has had a gluten intolerance (Celiac) for many years and this has ultimately affected his immune system and digestive/absorption system, thus the flushing, fatigue and lack of weight gain. My son is also on a gluten/dairy free diet (yuk!), taking extra Vit. D, Curcumin, Acidophilus (sp?), Fish Oil and now HCI w/pepsin. Not fun for a teenager but we are hoping there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. My son is severly depressed as I can imagine you can relate to and I fear what he might do if this doesn't work for him.

Have any of you tried any of the above? I would love to hear if you get tested for thyroid and what is recommended to do. Thank you for letting me vent and I pray for each and every one of you to find a cure!

in response to helpless mom:

this is very interesting. this sounds identical to what is happening to me. thanks very much for sharing. theoretically, does he have to stick with this kind of diet/regime forever -- or will his health eventually stablize (according to the doctor)???

i'm firmly against treatments that require difficult habitual routines. that's not good QOL, IMO.

as far as other symptoms that could be the same as mine: does your son's skin get red easily all over? is it extremely sensitive?

i'm sry to say, but in response to having any experience with thyroid problems: i have none. though i will definitely look into to this in light of recent discussion.

thanks for this information. any other input is dually appreciated.
