Recent problem i cant figure out
Ive been going to the derm. for about a year now. He gave me some orange liquid to put on my face and some Tetrnoin to smooth out my keratosis. It was working fine but the last few days my cheeks will randomly start to burn and get super red. Its quite noticable and annoying feeling the heat of it. This has never happened before. I went back to the derm and he said its due to dryness and i should lay off the tetrnoin for a bit and ease back into it. Well its still going off randomly... Like during school and people will just be liek "what the hell" Any help i appreciate

Hi do you mean 'Tretinoin'. If so I use this also on my face - the generic names I know it as is retinova and retin-A cream. What you are experiencing is not unusual. My skin did the same.
Like you, it made my cheeks very red and sensitive - however I eased off using it and started just putting a small amount i.e. half the size of a pea squeeze for both cheeks on only a couple of times a week. When my skin seemed to flare up I left off using it for a few days. I have persisted with this cream for a few months and am now seeing the results on my cheek area. It helps smooth out the skin and gives it a better appearance. I can now use it most nights with no problems. If my skin does seem to be a bit sensitive I stop using it for a couple of nights. This cream is helpful but you must only use a small amount and you must give it a couple of month to see the results. It is also known as 'Retinoic Acid' - I guess the acid accounts for the burning - as far as I understand it sloths off the dead skin and helps unplug the pores blocked with keratin giving the skin a smoother more youthful appearance. I have said this before on other posts that when dealing with this cream and Alpha Hydroxy Acids you must only use a little and 'listen' to what your skin is saying - if it flares up ease off the cream. It doesn't mean the cream is bad or is not doing it's job it just means you have put too much on or too often and your skin needs a break and a chance to adapt to it. I am probably a bit older than you and the KP bumps on my face are gone mostly with age however this cream has help get rid of the last few ones and giver my skin a much smoother appearance. My suggestion to you would be to leave off the cream for a few days then start up putting a small amount on at night (say the night before you haven't got anywhere special to go) and see how it goes. Just take it slow and steady and you will probably find your skin will begin to tolerate the cream more. |
