X Prize for KPRF
From reading posts on this site it seems that there is very little interest from the dermatological community in researching this condition. Why doesn't the KP community come together and set up an incentive for the medical profession to take a look at this. There are 6,780 members on this site. If everyone pledged $50 toward a prize we would have $339,000. If we could raise $100 per member we might have an incentive that would attract some attention. If the X prize can put privately funded spacecraft in the air, a KPRF prize should get medical research into this condition jump started. Just a thought.

$339,000 wouldn't be enough. We'd need other sources of funding.

X- Prize
I am in for raising money, but that's not the answer. Let's face it, people are motivated by the prospect of making money. If somebody thought they could make some money selling all of us a cure ( and I don't mean just us members of this website, but the more than half of the population that suffers from KP to one degree or another ) we would have a cure. It's not a major life threatening problem ( although it feels like it sometimes ), so it doesn't get alot of thought from people. Most people that have it don't know what it is, and most of the time they don't care. Look at the way other superficial ailments have become so popular due to their cures over the last few years... ED, Toenail fungus, acne, plastic surgery, laser hair removal... all of these things are inconveniences, not true medical problems, and nobody talked about them until a cure came about. There are commercials about toenail fungus and I bet people who would never have gone to the doctor about their toenails, as soon as they saw that commmercial, called their physician and asked about it. Just think of how every Jane Doe and Joe Blow would react if they saw a KP cure commercial, like Viagra commercials, and said " so that's what those ugly bumps are! I think I will look into getting some of that " . It's a gold mine! Whoever finds the magic sebum mixture that tells my skin to stop making KP bumps will be rich. It's really sad that within this community we cannot get something done to create a cure. Can't someone in the medical community see that if half of the population bought their product the profit potential is limitless?

Very true, even paying $1000+ sounds reasonable to look normal for the rest of your life.
