Skin Biopsies

Has anyone with KPRF or UO has a skin biopsy done on a KP effected area of the face. What were the results? This only applies to KP on the face. KP on the arms or body need not apply.

I have both KPRF and UO. A couple years ago I had a biopsy done on my KPRF. It was done at the time because my dermatologist had no explanation for my skin condition and had never seen anything like it. She told me that if I was 80 years old she wouldn't think anything of it, but since I was only 20 she didn't know what to do.

Anyways, I had the biopsy and the results were not as I had hoped. Results were inconclusive and they really didn't know what I had. I just wish some doctors would try to learn and understand this condition more. The majority of docs or derms that I've seen have never even heard of KPRF. Sure they've heard of typical KP but not the facial condition.

Well I had a biopsy about 4 months ago, and it came back as:

1. Keratonic Plugs (This is KP)

2. Yeast Spores (Yeast Infection - My derm said it was due to the Kertonic plugs. My face would get so dry that an infection built up)

3. Hyper-Sensitive skin VS. Eczema

So, the KP has caused some problems for me as you can see.. The KP is on and arouond my nose, upper-cheeks, and forehead. I couldn't believe the results when they came back..... Especially the yeast infection, but I guess it makes sense.. They gave me antibiotics for the yeast infection, and that went away, but the KP and the plugs are still active... Sometimes worst than others... NOW, I got the biopsy, b/c my derm never knew what these plugs were????? No one seems to know about KP.... LOL..... So, after the biopsy, I never went to her again.... BUT, I have a laser surgeon I know, who is this really cool/nice guy, who told me I had KP about a year and a half ago, but I never payed attention to it b/c he said it's nothing to worry about b/c it wasn't bad at all. It really wasn't either... But, in the last 8 months it got alittle worse, so I went to him, and he said, "YOU GOT A BIOPSY? ARE YOU CRAZY?" I laughed. But he said I told you, that you had it a while back, but you didn't listen to me... Basically, I didn't pay no mind at the time, but this guy does know his ****, b/c he knew way before it even got any worse.. So, he gave me a AHA lotion that he formulated... He's a very well known laser surgeon in PA.. He has his own products.... He said it should do the trick, just to stick with it and if I have any problems, to call or see him again.. He's not a derm though, but he still knew more than all these other derms I went to see.. THAT'S NOT GOOD AT ALL!!!!

So, I've been using this for about 3 1/2 weeks, and it has helped alot, but I still have dry patches on my upper cheeks.. I can't use any other lotions, b/c they irritate my skin... BUT, I'M gonna stick with the AHA for awhile... SO, I hope this post helped... THANKS, FREAKZILLA....
