Research
Does anyone know of any current research being conducted on Kprf? I remember we had a monstrous petition signed by many people. What happened to it? Its about time we get our due. Another thing, I know acne products usually succeed in just irritating kprf but has anyone tried acne complex? Its supposed to help with rosacea as well as acne which is unusual for a cream.

regarding research...treatment
Someone posted these studies in another section. There was some previous research done on genes and KP/UO. According to the studies we lack a gene that is responsible for sebum gland formation/cellular function. I've suspected sebum glands to be the cause for the last few months. Now I finally have confirmation. |

Genetics of U/O & KPAF
Yes as far as I understand, the defect lies in the 'short arm of chromosome 18p'. It is not so much a deletion but a change in a minute part of the genetic material . I have Ulerythema Orphryogenes and Keratosis Pilaris Atrophican Faciei and have a genetist studying me and my son at the moment as he is showing signs of the skin disorder and was also born with heart problems. KPAF appears as part of a few syndromes involving the heart and other disorders. Literature sites U/O and KPAF as often appearing with other congential defects, especially those involving the ectodermal parts of the body i.e. bones, teeth, central nervous system. My genetist said that Chromosome 18 does not have a lot of genetic material on it compared to other chromosomes and at present there is a lot of research being done in this area espescially on a condition called 'cardio facial' syndrome. This is good new for people suffering from the KP variants as it may bring some more helpful information to light.

We know that Kp is genetic which means the chance of finding a cure is minimal, but we dont even have a breakthrough treatment. I dont mind taking a pill a day or something of the sort as long as it clears my kp and kprf. Thx accordude we have backed your idea concerning sebum gland production, with the way modern medecine is, there has to be some way to get normal sebum gland production, a pill, cream, diet, some way.........
