Sunscreen?
I apologize if this is an old question, but my searching didn't yield much info, so here goes. Do you all regularly wear sunscreen on your face?
I have been doing so for something like 15 years (I am nearly 33). The sunscreen habit came from the belief that I had rosacea. I have tried many and made it quite a habit. I am currently using the Nuetrogena Active, Breathable Sunblock with SPF 45. But for many KP suffers, a mild tan or some sun exposure seems like a godsend. My best guess is that in the short-term, sunscreen helps, i.e. if you don't care to risk being redder at an afternoon meeting than you were in the morning wear sunscreen. But over the long term, I think lack of sun exposure might make things worse. And don't forget the vitamin D factor. There is a lot of nutritional second guessing on the forum, but don't forget than how the body responds to sun impacts this nutrient absorbtion. So tell, do you use sunscreen or not? And why? |

I never wear sunscreen. For me it actually makes my face more red by putting it on, it's like it has a reaction to it.
My skin (arms and face) look a lot better after they've seen some sun, I think you have a point about exposure being good for the skin. Mind you, here in Scotland we don't get too much sun! |

I use sun lotion (but not full screen) in case i burn when sunbathing but it does make my skin feel horrible and dirty but only on my face. the rest of my body likes sunscreen and the KP really looks and feels much better for the sun. I think sun lotion on your face traps in all the toxins your skin wants to release and if you are allergic to them (as I am apparently allergic to the yeast that my skin naturally produces) then your skin wont be able to breathe. Maybe that is what causes KP? As our skin is more plugged up then we may harbour more toxins than those who dont have KP? bit of a never ending circle....
