What i've found through a couple years a trail and error is that currently nothing actually 100% gets rid of the redness. Even people without KPRF will blush, some people more then others. However there are some products which help with the redness, keep your skin mositurized, and somewhat calm. a quick note before you read this list, never scrub your face, or have excessively hot showers because the redness usually takes alittle while to disapate.
Try St Ives Vit E + A Advanced Therapy lotion (Works well overall, doesn't cause time delayed flare ups) (time delayed flare ups being a few hours later under stress your skin just explodes with heat and redness for what ever reason) Udderly Smooth Works well St Ives is slightly less iritating though because this cream was designed for the udders of cows!!?!?! It can be thick. Emu oil - Anti Inflamatory, never had an issue with dryness. But you look stupid because your all oily all the time. (don't believe that it absorbs into the skin because for it to do that you have to apply a pin sized drop which doesn't do any good) Eucerin Redness Relief - Haven't personally tried it sounds like the best bet though. Will try it asap and update. Aloe Vera mixed with udderly smooth - Calming, worked fairly well, mix the two together slightly less aloe then the cream because aloe dries. Works great if you have to go out and your face is beet red. Plain ol Water - NEEDS 15-45 Mins to do something - Got a date? Stressed about something and have to go anywhere? Clean your face off and splash water on it and keep it wet. go about your business getting dressed or what ever keep your face wet with cold/lukewarm water, move around or get a fan. This helps cool and reduce redness, follow up with a moisturizer that calms your skin down or atleast doesn't irritate it. Avoid Retinols, Vitamin A, Trentionin - Used for over a year religiously and actually made it slightly worse Herbacin - Greasy and time delayed flare ups Lac-hydrin - Just **** don't waste your time its irritating Urea lotions - Better then lac-hydrin but still **** Cetaphil - too thick just doesn't suit the condition well Flare ups Shea, Coco, any kind of body butter - makes you smell like a chick, doesn't moisturize well for too long Steriods, Hydrocortisine - If you can't use them for mmore then a week what good are they, plus during the usage they don't even reduce the redness that much Anti-biotics - In cream form or pill - They don't really do anything Evening Primrose oil - took for a few months noticed no difference whatsoever Alpha Hydroxy lotions - The bumps arent the issue its the redness, nobody sees the bumps, these just irritate. From what i've read Laser treatments are useless, as well as micro dermabrasion Benyzol peroxide - This isn't acne just burns the skin I'm sure theres more, as you can see the list of things that don't work is huge. Don't let that discourage you, this is merely something to help you save your time which i find valuable personally, i hate trying things for months and having no effect. BTW i'm a 21 male canadian. |

Great tips. I'm sick of the redness. My dermatologist has me on Finacea right now, but I told her that I don't think it's going to work. None of the rosacea treatments have. And I was pretty much dismissed regarding my keratosis pilaris. I've let this **** ruin my life for 20 years. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. You help a lot more than the medical community.

Sometimes you just gotta fend for yourselves. Derms seem to think that this condition isn't bad, and that we shouldn't be worried. Thanks for nothing i say.

Who ever started this thread is an idiot. The things he says that work don't do anything to stop the redness, and the things he said that dont, retinols, steroids, are the only things that do, aside from laser surgery.

Re: What works and what doesn't for redness
other things work for other people, not everything that works for you works for someone else. so don't be rude.

Re: What works and what doesn't for redness
Eucerin redness relief kit did nothing for my erythema. The cleanser however really is nice and has kept my acne at bay.

Re: What works and what doesn't for redness
Actually i steroids do work, because i use them...even though they are terrible for your skin as far as prolonged, just make sure you use a low combination and always use a moisterizing cream with the steroid cream(mines mixed). But steroids shouldent be used, even though it works.

steroids only work as u keep using them, as soon as u stop u get hit with a major relapse. then u need a steroid again, vicious cycle, u should have discontinued a while ago Justakid. |

Re: What works and what doesn't for redness
