Question Do you understand?....

I'm new to this site, so i'm sure it's not suprising that I need to take a minute and rant about KPRF. All through my childhood, and teenage years I had no problems with my skin. Perfect, and nearly flawless except for excessive redness. Then one day I decided that I had to go to the dermatologist because I had acne. They put me on all kinds of harsh medications that I had to stop because something wasnt feeling right. Within a year I had developed red bumpy skin that at times actually hurt. It took another two years for me to find a doctor that told me I had KP and that it should go away in a few months. He actually compared to it a teenager going through puberty that deals with acne. Yeah right! I was always aware that my face was red and I blushed a lot... that I could deal with. But these bumps.... I feel like I look like I have chicken skin on my face. Does the ordinary person know what it's like to have a skin ailment? Skin... the bodies largest organ... It burns, it feels tight and sometimes is so uncomfortable that I want to throw my head in the freezer and never peak out. I'm now on my 5th dermatologist, who has told me to use a product called Epionce ( it was only $150) and in six weeks or so I should see a difference. Now i'm on week 5 and there is no difference.... I've read countless posts on what worked for one person or another, but I have not read a lot of posts for people who have a severe case on their face. For those of you out there, what do you do? I'm 24 and although i'm through with the mean kids in high school, i'm finding people out there in the "real world" are just as mean and just as unaware of what people like me have to deal with on a daily basis. As hopeless as I feel, I kling to the idea that I may one day just "grow out of it" like my derm. said I would. Useless hopes I know, but if there is really no cure, then what is one to do? It's nice to know that there are people out there that deal with the same issues, and I know that the more of us that press for a cause and cure, the more hope we all have. Again... if there is anyone out there that has a severe case on their face and have had good results with a product, vitamin, diet... whatever... I would appreciate some feedback!

Thanks!

Everytime I go to the derm, I too am told that usually everyone grows out of it---I am a mystery to them because my KP is getting worse with age. They tell me not to worry about it because KP is a "normal" skin condition. About 50% of the population has it. I tell them it isn't normal! I am constantly asked if I am contagious. Yeah that is a sign of normal skin. People are afraid to touch me.

I occasionally get bumpiness on my face---the generic retin A that one can buy helps me. But the fact is each person is different. Go back and read old posts---people post helpful hints which may or may not help you. You just need to keep a positive outlook and to be patient.
