My daughter has had Keratosis Pilaris since birth with RF characterized by flesh-toned and red bumps and flushing on her cheeks and chin. I had been using Lazer Cream and Gormel Cream (20% urea) with pretty good results, but lately she's been looking pretty bad and I was told that the older she got, the less pronounced it would be!

I'm interested in hearing about any skin care routines that anyone has used that have worked to help reduce the appearance of RF on their children (or themselves). She started Kindergarten this year and I'm really afraid of her being teased because of her skin (she hasn't been yet, but there's a long way to go!)

Hi Gemini chick..my name is Robin, my son is 17 and he has had keratosis pilaris on his cheeks since he was about 18 months, back then we used creams ,but they seemed to burn my sons face, he always cried when I put them on..I also was told that it would get better with age, and as he got older the bumps did dissapear.. But at puberty the redness on his cheeks got more pronounced...Now at age 17 the redness remains and no creams or lotions seem to decrease it. I have been ssearching for info regarding laser surgery, but at this time I'm still noit convinced thats the best option. The redness bothers my son a lot sometimes and othertimes he''s ok with it..He just gets tired of people always asking him why his face is so red.?? It breaks my heart that he has to go through all that, but I believe he will be a stronger person for it. I live in NY..how about you???
