I'm a 19 year-old female. I remember having keratosis pilaris rubra on my arms from as far back as I can remember, and getting it on my legs at about 12-13.

Hello all. I am a 41 year old
female with KP--legs/arms/buttock/back/shoulders--as long as I can remember, possible first noticed at 5 years of age. Condition has spread to shoulders and back with age. Felt like I was a freak when I was younger; no one explained my skin condition but I new I was different just by looking at others' skin. Pleaded with my mom to take me to the doctor. Doctor just prescribed LacHydrin, said I had dry skin. LacHydrin never helped. I have silently suffered with this condition all my life but never knew the name of the condition or that I wasn't alone until my late adulthood. I have a daughter (22 years) whom also inherited the same KP condition in the same areas as myself. I have all but given up on cures, because to me, it is a waste of money. I use the least expensive remedies I can find to allievate the severity when I want it to. I have learned to accept it and go on with my life. Sure I have longed for a cure, but it probably won't happen in my lifetime. I have coped as many of you have. The most important thing to me is that now I know the name of this skin condition and I can read about it--but most of all, I know I am not a freak and I'm not alone. Blessings all!!! ![]() |

27 year old female. always had bumps on back of arms some on thighs --never really bothered me. But after i had first baby in 2004 i have it on 1 side of face. very red and embarrassing and nothing has worked so far. I just found this site. I hope i can learn some things. Does anyone have it on 1 side of face. the derm docs are very confused why i have only on 1 side of face.
