How to get rid of excess keratin ON FACE... that's something I would like to know.

If I scrub my face using exfoliants, it gets very dry and red.

finacea (azelaic acid) is a known keratin softener, and I find it really helps to reduce redness.

    Hi Gauntlet00,
I tried skinoren (20% azelaic acid) but for me it doesn't worked. Maybe finacea (15% az acid) has different ingredients. You can buy Skinoren without prescription, for finacea you should have it..

Re: How to get rid of excess keratin?

    Gauntlet00:

Right now there is no way to get rid of the bumps besides using exfoliators. I see that you have tried mechanical exfoliation, but have you tried oil pulling and/or chemical exfoliation?

Oil Pulling is a very different and natural approach that has helped many members of our community. You can give it a try, but remember that you have to be consistent with it. It can take months (2-3) before you see best results.

If using acids, remember that your skin is going to turn red, flaky and dry. It's normal, your skin is shedding. You should always use a good sun block SPF15 or more, I'd say 30 for the face. Also moisturize the area with 100% pure aloe vera gel.

Maybe the acid percentage that you are using is too high, your skin can be very sensitive to them and react very badly.

What percentages are you guys using and what kind of acids? I would also like to know what's your procedure or routine.

    Thank you.

    My regimen:
Scrub my skin every 7 days with Homemade Salicylic Acid Scrub and wash with homemade soap. I always moisturize my skin because it becomes dry.

Mi tratamiento: Exfoliacion cada 7 dias con acido salicilico. Jabon artesanal hecho en casa, aprender como hacerlo en www.manualisimo.com.

This community is composed primarily of KeratosisPilaris.org community members, but is also open for those interested in the topic.
