Smile I never thought I'd post this but...It's disappearing!!

    Hey everyone
As you can see, I have been a member here for awhile so this is not a scam. Recently I started using Castor oil and coconut oil (a mixture) on my skin to relieve my blackheads-the result- my KPRF is going away! The horrible dryness has alleviated, the hot flushes....I haven't had even ONE since!! The overall redness is diminishing. I use the Oil Cleansing Method (google it) and if my skin is a little dry afterwards I use a bit on vaseline moisturizer on my face. Sorry I don't have a before picture and I'm not really comfortable posting a photo of my face on the internet... But I just wanted to share my experience with everyone. I know how painful, uncomfortable and downright humiliating this illness is. Feel free to ask questions and I'll reply as soon as I can.

P.S I have been using this on my KP as well, and it is really helping my bumps and dryness. Once my bumps are gone I will use glycolic acid. On the areas where the bumps are not as bad, they are virtually gone.

Hey, congrats!!! Hope u keep seeing improvement.

How much castor oil and how much of the coconut oil do you use? Do you use the mixture as the oil cleansing method or as a moisturiser???

Have you tried it on your body or just the face?

I have just bought castor oil and olive oil...I want to try those together but not on the face...but on the backs of my upper arms and my thighes as that is where my KP is obvious and a little on my upper back.

I have visible blackheads on my nose...I must say while I was oil pulling, I did notice they were gone!!! I did not stick with oil pulling for long. Does the mixture help your blackheads???

How often and how long have you kept this regime before you noticed any difference???

    Punx,

Thanks for sharing your successful treatment. For those who want to try the oil cleansing method read details at:
The Oil Cleansing Method - A simple, cleansing facial massage for clear skin!

All thatís required to try the oil cleansing method is the right oils, a soft washcloth, and hot running water.
    1. Mix up a blend of extra virgin olive oil and castor oil - or any other natural, unprocessed oils that you prefer - see a partial list here.
    2. Massage a small amount of the oils gently into your face. Spend a few minutes rubbing the oils into your cheeks, nose, forehead, neck, and chin, allowing the oils to penetrate into the skin and pull out wastes, bacteria, dead cells and other dirt.
    3. Wring out a facecloth or washcloth in hot water, and drape it over your face to steam - it's just like giving yourself a mini facial!
    4. After a minute or so, wipe away the oil, along with any dirt, using the washcloth. Your skin should feel clean, soft, and moist with just a little of the OCM oil remaining on your face. If skin feels dry and tight, you can moisturize it using just a touch of the olive oil/castor oil blend.
The Oil Cleansing Method: Restore your face with natural oils and stop using caustic soap

    Hey GG

    1. I listen to my skin, I usually put more coconut oil on if I need more moisture and more Castor oil if I need more cleansing. I just do what MY skin needs.

    2. Yes I do the same thing on my body. It makes my skin very soft and supple.

    3. YES!! This is the ONLy thing that has EVER helped my blackheads.

This method sounds interesting, and I'd like to give it a try. Where did you buy the coconut oil and castor oil? I'm not sure where I can get it. Also, how did you mix it together?

    Cam,

You can buy coconut oil at a natural food store, health food store, or on line. You can get castor oil at a pharmacy. If the coconut is solid, melt it over low heat -- don't let it get hot. Mix the two oils together in a small dish, or in something you can put a cap on to save if there is extra.

    Hey

I haven't been on here in awhile because I disagree with some of the new stuff, but I want to help.

I stopped using this as it broke me out, even though it works. Perhaps if you're older and have more mature skin this will work for you?

I am working on a new treatment plan. I'll let you know how it goes! Cannot buy until next week.

Please, can you be more specific? I'm very interested in what is causing you discomfort around the forums, maybe others are going through the same... maybe I can help you out.

Well I've read the rules but they're a tad general, so I'm kinda confused about how to not be banned or punished, and I really enjoy coming here so I don't want to be banned. I find thsi site useful.

prp - did you try using any tea tree oil in the mix? it's recommended for those of us who get acne but want to use oil cleansing. Definitely helps for me, esp the blackheads on the nose (but, yes, I have mature skin). just wondering...

About KeratosisPilaris.org

Keratosis Pilaris is a very common benign genetic skin condition. KeratosisPilaris.org is the definitive resource for KP on the internet.

KP appears as rough or bumpy skin on the back and/or outer sides of your upper arms. The severity of the symptoms varies from person to person. You can also manifest it on the face as a natural blush (known as KPRF or Keratosis Pilaris Rubra Faceii).

This community is composed primarily of KeratosisPilaris.org community members, but is also open for those interested in the topic.
