Me...

Hi everybody, my first post here Well, I don't suffer from KP or anything as far as I am aware. I dont have any bumps or anything sympomatic of KP/RF. However i do suffer from facial flushing. As i'm sure is the same with a lot of people here i really REALLY hate it. It happens at the worst times and is really emarrasing.

I can be out with some mates at the pub and the *boof* red face for no reason. I sometimes dont feel comfy in a situation unless i know i can get to fresh air easily to cool down. What a horrible situation!! It happens most of the time in fluxations of heat; for example if i went from a warm room to the cold outside or vise versa. It also affects my nose which is so horrible.

Now, im quite a confident person naturally and i dont let it bother me too much if i can avoid it. I mean it doesnt have a huge affect on my social life but it really does get me down sometimes, when it happens i just want to hide!

I wanted to know what you guys have been doing to stop/prevent this from happening.

Steps i have taken so far:
-Better diet (i try to cut out "modern" fats/carbs)
-NOT washing my face so often, and when i do i only use a bit of PH neutral soap
-Everyday (if not twice a day) i use a really good moisturiser called Sudocream
-Fake tan
-Started Oil Pulling today

I have a question for everybody: How many of you that suffer from this problem have ever taken ecstasy?

The reason i ask is because ecstasy affects the same part of the brain (the bit that produces serantonin) that is linked with social anxiety...it's just a theory i have.

Anyway im waffling now, just let me know what you guys think and let me know any advice you might have for me.

Re: Me...

Hello Carl:

Do you think that taking drugs such as ectasy can be related to the flushing? I couldn't understand very much your theory...

For those of you who doesn't know what ectasy is...

Ectasy is an illegal drug (pill) that is made out of any proportion of different, not regulated active ingredients.

No one knows what's really in it, unless you make it and this will not assure you'll end up with the right proportions that can't kill you or give you a heart stroke. Many people has experienced suicidal thoughts in a period of a year after taking it and depression.

It is NEVER SAFE. Some pills are mixed with dxm (Dextrometorfan) that can cause you to stop sweating which will increase the risk of heart stroke.

Re: Me...

Elsa,

There are many safe forms of ecstasy, not all of it is "bad".

In fact, ecstasy was marketed LEGALLY until 1985 for treatment of stress and anxiety disorders. The way I see it, we should try anything and everything that might help our KPRF

If you do have ecstasy pills, you can find out exactly what's in them at DanceSafe.org

Many safe forms of Ecstasy?!! Are you high? Who in their right mind would take ecstasy to treat KPRF, stress and anxiety. Sure we should try anything and everything to cure KPRF but something that is an illegal drug and causes brain damage, I think I'll stick to FDA approved meds that are designed to treat stress and anxiety and I recommend you should to.

a lot of illegal drugs were once legal, do you think someone invents something and decides if it should be legal or not, I don't think so. LSD was once legal and was used for medical reasons. Salvia is legal to and that hallucinogen will screw you up. I'm not even going to attempt to click the "dancesafe" link I'll leave that to the E-tards.

Would you care to share the source of this information?

As far as I know, Ecstasy or MDMA ('3,4 Methylene-dioxy-N-methylamphetamine' or 'Methylenedioxymethamphetamine'), was NEVER legal or approved to be prescribed on humans.

Re: Me...

Methylenedioxymethamphetamine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
And I know for a fact that at one point psychologists recommended MDMA for marital problems, anger, and a whole array of other problems.

Re: Me...

Thank-you

From that link:
Quote:
In the United States, MDMA was legal and unregulated until May 31, 1985, at which time it was added to DEA Schedule I, for drugs deemed to have no medical uses and a high potential for abuse.
It was indeed legal until 1985.

Everything is legal until government or pertinent agencies makes them illegal for some reason.

We are assuming that the Ecstasy you are referring to is PURE form MDMA.

In some cases, tablets sold as Ecstasy do not even contain MDMA, chemicals in the Ecstasy Family, or even any kind of stimulant drug.
Now-a-days, "Ecstasy" stands for a number of drugs including MDMA, DXM, LSD, among others, and their resulting combination.

In 1980, psychiatrist George Greer synthesized MDMA in the lab of Alexander Shulgin, then administered it to about 80 of his clients over the next five years, until MDMA was scheduled in 1985.
This drug was administered before it became illegal. As I understand, it was never "prescribed" by doctors. As far as I know, for doctors to "prescribe" a drug (in the USA), it must be approved by the FDA.

Re: Me...

True.

I think many doctors can agree upon the benefits of pure MDMA though.

MDMA is probably best enjoyed at a rave, and not for treating anxiety. There are better drugs for that.

I couldn't understand very much your theory, I was asking what it was about... Thanks for clarifying.

Do you have other KP symptoms such as bumps, irritated follicles? Or you just have the flushing sensation?

Re: Me...

No bumps anywhere, my skin on my cheeks is slightly rougher and thicker than the other skin. But other than that no, it's just the flushing sensation.

Re: Me...

So you don't have KP at all, you just have the flushing sensation.
aWell, "maybe" your theory is right...maybe the use of ecstasy affected you...I'm going to create a poll to see if there's more people that have taken this kind of drugs and began to feel the flushing sensation.

This way we'll see if it is related...

Re: Me...

*Poll created*
Have you taken stimulant and/or recreational drugs and now experience flushing sensations?
