Various Methods for Treatment

Hi -

I am 22 and have been suffering from KP since I was 12. I have reviewed this website for sometime but have never posted. I have a moderate to severe case of KP. I am currently trying two methods of treatment.

1. Based on the idea that KP is caused by the yeast candida, I am trying the Body Ecology Diet. This diet eliminates all contributors to the growth of candida. This means no bread, sugar (including fruit), no mixing grains with meat, no soy, beans of any kind. I am allowed the following grains: quinoa, millet, amaranth and buckwheat. There are a lot of other restrictions on this diet. It also suggest making your own cultured veggies as sort of a probiotic. It is basically veggie sauerkraut. I am told my symptoms should clear up within 3 months of the diet.
Needless to say this diet is extremely hard. I will do anything to get rid of KP though. Temptation is everywhere! Today my bf was munching on a big stromboli grinder, which is like a panini on steroids. Ohhh the temptation J.
2. My second method is the seabuckthorn treatment. I am currently only using the soap and lotion. It has been a couple of weeks and my skin is smoother but still red and irritated. I would like to take the seabuckthorn orally but cannot due to my diet.

I know, I should not try both methods at the same time, but if one works I will figure out which one it was later. Also, I will note that I put a good amount of coconut oil on my skin. In the past I used Eucerine as instructed by my doctor, which made it very red and inflamed. The Coconut oil works much better at keeping my skin moist and smooth.

Re: Various Methods for Treatment

Hi Opal,

Welcome to the KP Forum. I just completed one year of being on a candida diet. The program I am following does not allow any grains at all. Since I don't eat meat, my diet is low carb veggies, eggs, fish, and all the healthy oil I want, like olive oil and coconut oil. I have done my share of back sliding because my kitchen is full of temptations, but there has been a lot of progress. I make sauerkraut to have a good source of lactobacilli and because it aids digestion.

This is a very healthy diet for anyone, regardless of whether you have candida, but are you sure you have it? Have you taken Dr. Crook's online candida test?

I wish you luck with your diet and with the SBT treatment. Please keep in touch.
