Hello...

Hello Everyone,

I am new here but I believe my 11 year old son has this condition. When he was a baby he had a "rash" on his cheeks, arms and legs, the dr. told me he had eczema and he told me to apply cortaid and it minimized the bumps for about 5 months. Then we tried Eucerin and that didn't work. When he was about 2-3 years old I took him to a dermatologist who gave us this stinky, sulfur smelling ointment which did nothing but irritate his face and limbs more. I took him to a different dermatologist who said that he never seen anyone with "those types of plugs on the skin". I gave up on dermatologists after that. When we went on vacation my son's skin would clear up beautifully. When we got back his skin would be fine for a couple of weeks and then flare up. I used aloe vera gel on his face and that would help some but would not help his limbs.

He no longer has it on his legs, only on his arms and his face is extremely red. We are now on gf but he loves cereal and milk and I can't get him to try any other milk like soy, rice or almond. So we can't go cf.

Does anybody have suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Hello...

My 13 year old son has KP on his arms.
I think you have to be prepared to wait until your son gets to the point of wanting to get rid of them. Then he will be prepared to give up the milk, etc that you want him to. For us, my son is OPing daily, taking salmon oil, drinking ACV and honey in warm water, exfoliating in the shower, spraying affected areas with ACV and teatree oil, and applying moisturiser after exfoliating. It is a lot, but he is at the stage where he wants to do something about it, and is prepared to put in the effort.
There has been improvement in the few weeks he has been doing this.
