Guess I should introduce myself huh? lol Well, my name is Latasha. I am a 22yrd African American female from Texas....Hmm what can I say...well.. I just found out today playing around on the internet that I have "keratosis pilaris alba" I must say for years I have been anxious and curious to what these dark bumps were all over my legs.. arms and theighs....It's always been embarassing to me.. my older siblings used to tease me.. and well it made me very self concious and gave me a loss of confidence...Cant remember exactly when it 1st showed up but I would guess around the age of 10...? I was majorly shocked to find out that its a condition that is incurable...I mean.. I havent let this depress me.. but I will say that I was scared of what my b/f would think when and if he saw them.. he doesnt say anything about it if he notices them..and I havent said anything about it.. partially b/c didnt know what it was...It does affect the way I feel about my body but doesnt take over my life...Sometimes its smooth.. but the dark black bumps never go away.. I wanted to visit a doctor but didnt have the money but maybe next time i get a check up I will ask the doctor if he knows anything i can use..I was searching for treatments.. not sure what KP duty does...heard a few good things about coconut oil..vitamin A and Eucerin & cetaphyl cremes...I would really appreciate it if anyone told me anything they use to lessen the appearance and would definitely appreciate anyone of the African American race to let me know if they've tried anything that works.. Ive been hearing that on caucasians.. the bumps appear to be red...well on my skin they are brown to really dark brown to black.. I've always hated these bumps on my leg..ive picked at em. which common sense told me that couldnt help...Well... I guess thats it...
