Hello!

Gosh, its amazing what you can find on the internet! I have a 12 year old son and a 16 year old daughter who have always had mild "bumpy" arms. For the past 18 months it has got gradually worse for my 12 year old and was so unsightly,a trip to the doc was needed. He has it on his upper arms and the whole of his back and chest. Its also started to appear on his neck. Its worse after a bath and gets very itchy. The doc prescribed CLOBETASONE. Improvement was very slight and as it has to be applied sparingly and for no longer than a week at a time, isnt practical or helpful. I informed his class teacher of his condition and what the doctor had said. However, numerous members of staff have telephoned me and written home sounding very concerned and often question my son about it. He has learning disablilities and attends a special school and cannot really answer all of their questions. Ive even had to get a second opinion from another doctor to try and reassure the school. This morning, a parent informed me that SHE had been questioned about him by another teacher! Im sure they think its contagious. Why wont they listen!!! All of this has led me to scour the internet for info that I can send into school. Thats when I came across this forum so Im off to read all of your threads and try to find something to help him.

Re: Hello!

Hi Paula,

Welcome to the KP forum. I hope you find a remedy here for your son and daughter. Check out Parents Corner for some ideas on what to try.
It can be tough on kids to have something "different", especially when the adults don't even know what it is. Maybe send a link to this forum to the school so they can see this is a bona fide skin disorder that is not contagious.

Please post again with questions and comments. We all learn from each other.
