i have had kp as long as i can remember. i specifically recall being 14 and crying in my dermatologists office when he told me there was nothing that could be done about the bumps and that they would slowly fade as i got older.

after 10 years of trying to accept it and wearing long sleeves i found this forum and have read several treatments that seem to be working quite well for people.

i am open to any suggestions. i'm particularly interested in trying out the sulfer soap and carmol 20? sp? traznorac? i have very fair skin and i use retin-a already on my face and that has kept it pretty clear for four years. i read about some people using it on their arms?

if people could just tell me a little about their regimes so i can maybe start on something to help get rid of these bumps. i just want something to suck the keratin right out and leave my arms and thighs the same color and smoothness as the rest of my body. it's so infuriating to be red and bumpy only there.

i appreciate any advice or comments.

hi stephanite, your going to find that alot of treatments dont work. sorry to say. but after you get frustrated enouph. you should pm me your e-mail address, so that i can send you a link to a very insperational website. the website was started by torquose. and to me it seems like one of the only treatments that will work. It involves using AHA lotion twice a day. I think everybody should check out her website. Her before pictures show her with sever kp and her after pics show the kp completely gone. Amazing!

"it's so infuriating to be red and bumpy only there." you should consiter yourself lucky that you only have kp there. and dont rule out the possability of you kp spreading. it happens.

I remember a time when i was almost care free. when i was 15-17 I had kp on only my upper-outer bisepts { it still bothered the hell out of me} but i was so much less self contious of it. I was dating . i took relationships ,love, and sex for granted. Now i have kp on my back. and one winter it spread to my thighs { now its not on my thighs anymore, thank god} i have a little bit of kp on my chest now . I havent been in a relationship since i was 17 and im almost 24 now. what a cruel world this is!
well i think you had a nuff of me being a downer. but ill leave off on a positive note:
the AHA lotion that ive been using for 3or 4 weeks seems to be working, i apply it to my right arm. My right arm is about 70% clearer than my left. thats great news!
