Hey folks,

I am a 29 year old male with a 20 year + history of KP. I really have never been overly concerned with it to be totally honest. However, over the last few years it has started to worsen and spread throughout my forearms and lower extremities. I have habit of picking when I get bored and of course this makes it even worse. It's not so much the redness that irritates me, its the rough bumpy skin. That and the ones on my lower extremities tend to be a bit more severe and sometimes mimic staff infections. I've never really considered treatment before, but I have my heart set on a fairly large tattoo and would like to clear up a bit before I get it.

I am military member, working in the health care field, stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba at the moment. The sun and warm climate I assumed would help to alleviate some of the symptoms as cold environments tend to worsen KP. Unfortunately, that has not been the case. I just found this little forum of yours here and it's interesting to read about some of the success stories that some of you have had with "home remedies." I'm glad they have worked for some of you, though I must admit, I am still a little skeptical about some of them. Coconut oil seems to be one of the new raves in treatment but this is the first time I have ever heard of "oil pulling." I think I might be more apt to try a topical treatment.
