Absolute beginner
Hi everyone. I'm a 32-year old mother of two and have only just learned that there's a name for these weird bumps on my arms! I'm chuffed to bits that this network exists to help people understand KP better.
The women in my family all seem to suffer from KP to a greater or lesser degree. Mine started about 8 years ago. it was a time of massive upheaval in my life and I lost a lot of weight. Whether stress or weight loss was a trigger I'll never know but when I got pregnant in 2005 (and put a lot of weight on!) my condition got worse. I have spots on my arms, across my chest near my shoulders, in patches on my lower back on either side of my spine and, if I'm not mistaken, I think I'm starting to get them on my face too. My questions are: What, if anything, can I do to make them go away? If nothing, can I at least make them stop itching? Are they likely to spread further? Does squeezing them make it worse? Does exfoliating help or does it aggravate them? These might seem obvious questions to many of you but I know NOTHING about this condition and would really appreciate any help you can offer. My eldest daughter also has KP so any advice on treating toddlers would be gratefully received. Looking forward to hearing from everyone. Best wishes, pressy75 |
