Red face About me and what I use

Hi there, i guess I should write something, I have been reading quite a bit now. Seems like a good group of people.

Sooo, here I am, a 23 year old female. I have had KP forever, I can't remember when I didn't have it. I don't wear shorts and short sleeved shirts which a lot of people can relate to. When it's 40 below, I feel like a complete weirdo. People say "You must be hot". I would love for my KP to be gone. I don't want it to run my life, I know i shouldn't let it... I was reading someone's thread and they stated that they look at other people's arms/legs and you just wish you had normal skin. That is totally me, I want to be THAT girl, with perfect skin... one day.

This is what i have used in the past. I was looking on line for that miricle cure for KP, and I came across DERMAdoctor KP Duty. I thought i would be done with KP. This stuff is fairly expensive and only made in the states, so getting it shipped to Canada was even more costly. I havent really looked, perhaps there is a store that sells it. I didnt find it did too much anyway... for 4 oz and the price, it didn't seem that worth it.

A few years ago, someone was talking about vitamin E and how it was good for the skin. I went out and bought DERMA E: Vitamin E 12,000 IU cream. This is just under 10 dollars and able to get at Wal-mart. I bought an oil for the skin, it had way more IU's in it.. but it was just way too sticky so i chose not to use it. Anyway, I havent read anything about Vitamin E cream on here, but it's my guilty pleasure. It makes my legs and arms really smooth. My boyfriend touches my legs at night and always says that my legs are really smooth.... I have never heard that my entire life growing up, it is nice to hear. I havent had the nerve to actually tell him or show him that I have KP, he has made two comments asking why my arm was red, I shrugged it off saying i was just hot from the hot tub the other being I exfoliated too hard, and he left it at that. I would love to be able to be honest with him and let him see me in full light with shorts and a shirt on... but i dont have the confidence to do so yet.... but annnnyway Before i apply the cream, I have a bath, shave my legs with shaving cream use a 4 blade razor (the men's one is cheaper) I use this neat glove.. i think it was bought at a dollar store and I just put it away and never used it until now. It's slightly rough, great exfoliator!.. sometimes, sometimes not,.. ill put a few drops of baby oil, alo vera in the water.. not always. then apply my vitamin E cream shortly after drying off. I find this smooths out the KP but doesn't get rid of the red little dots. But it sure makes your skin so smooth.

So reading through the posts, I came across a post or two or three, talking about dandruff shampoo! Light bulb went off, so I went and bought Neutrogena T/Gel: Extra... Which controls severe scalp conditions and danruff problems. It helps eliminate itching, irritation and ding ding ding REDNESS, also reduces flaking and scaling.

So now I started using that amazing little glove, I exfoliate with the T/Gel... I let it sit on my skin for several minutes.. (this is after I shave my legs) rinse off... dry off.. then apply the vitamin E cream...

I only tried this all together yesterday and its looking promising (but im not going to get my hopes up)

I'm looking forwad to my next bath...! after i post this lol..

Thanks for reading... Hopefully some of you will try vitamin E cream

So this was a little about me and what I use... I'm so glad I found this forum!

Re: About me and what I use

Hi BC,
Thanks for posting. I hope you find success with the dandruff shampoo. We never know what works until we try it!
Please post again, and feel free to join other ongoing discussions with your questions or comments. It doesn't matter who has started a thread (discussion). They are open to all as a continuing conversation about KP.

The shampoo that you are using: Neutrogena T/Gel: Extra contains Coal Tar (active ingredient) known to cause cancer.

I suggest the safe use of Selenium Sulfide or Pyrithione Zinc shampoos.
