This is my first post.I'm a 27 year old female from NY. I've had KP on my upper arms for as long as I can remember, I guess I starting really noticing it around 13. My arms really bothered me when i was younger, I'd get the comments like " why do you have goosebumps?" And one time a friend said my arms were really red and it was "baby acne" and that he had it when he was younger. I really never knew what it was until about a month ago when I started noticing a signifigant amount of bumps and did some research. I'm not really sure when it started getting better but it must have cuz I never really paid much attention to it anymore in the last few years. Now suddenly it's back! I mean, it was always sorta there, but only dry scaley, *****ley skin- not the bumps. It's so distressing, because I've been dealing with acne on my face for the last four months which i never had before not even as a teenager. I realized this too maybe KP related and not pimples like i had thought. I also noticed It's worse than highschool cuz its starting to travel down to my lower arms
. I've read that the condition is soppose to get better in the summer months but thats when mine came back?! I also read that you should moisturize, so i tried this for a few days....when i applied the lotion it made the bumps feel worse . I have very sensitive skin and never really could apply any lotions especially to my arms because it makes me skin bright red for at least an hour. I want to try and exfoliate in the shower everyday, but i was wondering if anyone else had super sensitive skin like me that could recommend something not so harsh. Or anything else that would be suited for more sensitive skin. I have the kind of bumps that are flesh colored, only red if i pick, which i try not to do. Any suggestions.![]() |

Re: kp returning as i get older?
Mine went away when I was a teenager after I used neutrogena transparent bar soap for 2 weeks, like 100% gone. Then it came back at 29, so yes, it can come back, unfortunately.
Since your skin is so sensitive to lotions, you may want to give a bar of this a try. http://www.drugstore.com/products/pr...andFilter=7519 Another soap you can try would be this: http://kpsoap.com/ however, for this soap I am not entirely certain how your skin would handle it. |

Re: kp returning as i get older?
Did you do anything else besides use this soap when it cleared up? Also you said it returned when you were 29, did the same soap clear it up for you again?

Re: kp returning as i get older?
I did not do anything else besides use the neutrogena transparent bar soap, and it cleared up. When it returned when I turned 29, I tried this soap again and it did not work.
The same thing happened to me with the BBW eucalyptus spearmint body lotion. My KP was 99% gone, and then I had to quit using it (that was year-end 2005, and I started using it again this summer). When I started using the eucalyptus spearmint lotion again, the KP did not go away. |
