Connection between yellow skin around eyes and kp..?

Ok, so i started noticing that in photos the skin around my eyes appear to be yellow? around my mouth a little bit too. It's a little less noticeable in person..

I google searched this and found a forum with replies... someone said

"One of the other common causes could be thyroid imbalance, mostly commonly hypothyroid (or low function). Thyroid hormone assists in processing beta carotene into Vitamin A, so the yellow could be beta carotene buildup. This might also cause some acne-like bumps on the back of your arms"

im guessing they mean the acne-like bumps are keratosis pilaris.
so maybe we have too much beta carotene?

my questions are : does anyone else have yellow skin
    AROUND the eyes?

does anyone know more about this?

Don't know about it per se but a Dr. can order a thyroid test for you. I have had mine done when I was severely fatigued. That and iron levels. Mine came back normal. But I also didn't have yellowed skin around my eyes and mouth. I had gluten-intolerance.
If you do have a thyroid issue with your KP you may wish to be armed with this info "The incidence of full-scale gluten intolerance has been found to be substantially higher in people with autoimmune thyroid disease":
Is Gluten Intolerance / Celiac Disease Sabotaging Your Health? -- Gluten and Celiac Connection to Thyroid Disease
    - bd: 46 yo F; Dr. Woods Black Soap w/Shea Butter for facewash; Sea Salt + Epsom Salt scrub in shower; Cetaphil RestoraDerm unscented lotion, Alba Botanica Kona Coffee After-Sun lotion on face; reg. exercise; OilPulling; a basic multi-vite plus calcium/Vit D, o3s; eating GLUTEN-FREE DIET for Celiac Disease, and not much dairy as I get allergic reaction; Arms 99% clear, face neck chest 98%, legs 90% clear, butt is 99% clear. All dietary treatments above help reduce my sinus congestion and joint pain besides help my skin.

No, I don't have yellow skin around my eyes/mouth.

It could be so many things that's causing the yellow color around your mouth and eyes...

Get your liver checked! I know someone who had yellowish skin (not Simpsons-like, just a bit yellow, though not alarming, he didn't look weird or anything) and it turned out he had a malfunctioning liver due to a parasite. Delicious...

Another possibility is: allergies! You could be allergic/sensitive and not even know...

It could also be a candida infection.

Or it could simply be very dry skin that's causing some discoloration. Moisturize 3 times daily and see if it goes away... Turmeric soap lightens the skin. See if you can find an ayurvedic one, they're better... try a local desi store, they tend to have such things.

I don't think you can actually overdose beta-carotene. However, if you do eat too much of it, you might get orange looking skin all over, not just spots.

    Godspeed

I'm in the dark too about this and also have had an orangy coloring around my mouth for years. Don't have yellow around my eyes though. Took Accutane 17 years ago, never felt the same since. Possible connection?? Not sure how to get rid of the orange coloring. Maybe connected to the liver? My liver and thyroid have always tested normal.

I Have the orange staining under my eyes and have yet to discover how to get rid of it, someone told me it looked like I had make-up on (great !).
I had a blood test recently but that was OK although the Doctor seemed half asleep so perhaps a new Doctor would be a good idea.

I also have the yellow skin around my eyes. I've had my thyroid levels checked this year so I don't think that's it.

Sunshine's Mom - Good to hear from you, best bit is even my Doctor didn't know but thought it's here to stay... great. I was taking powerful eyedrops for wide angle Glaucoma but I don't think it's that.

Oh my gosh. So glad I found this. I've recently discovered what I think is kp on arms. After washing my face today I took a picture and around my eyes and mouth are yellow. This is so weird considering I have a very ruddy undertone to my skin and haven't noticed this before!

If it's obviously yellow to others, ask parents or friends, you might want to see a Dr.
Jaundice is a yellowing of the skin that occurs in some illnesses/
Jaundice - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

However, if you have been drinking a lot of carrot juice, you can get a temporary yellowing of skin. If your palms and soles of your feet are yellowed too, it's probably harmless.

Also, try a different camera. Lighting can do weird things in photos. Does you family naturally have changes in skin color around the eyes or mouth?

Re: Connection between yellow skin around eyes and kp..?

i had yellow skin around my mouth and jaw, and eyes as well. My doctor (ND) said that is a sign of a sluggish liver.

i took some homeopathic drops to drain my liver, Unda 273 or another Unda number i can't remember maybe Unda 243?

My yellow skin completely cleared after a couple of months of taking drops and being easy on my liver.

just for the record I took accutane in 2003 for 3 months, which is supposed to be very hard on your liver. Seems like I was born with a sluggish liver though as my mom says I had rabbit pellets the whole time I was in diapers, which is another sign of sluggish liver.
