Omega 3: Fish Oil vs. Flaxseed oil

Fish Oil vs. Flaxseed Oil—Which Is Better?

This morning I found out that my father prefers Flaxseed oil instead of Fish oil. I asked him why and he just said: "I don't know, I just heard it was healthier than Fish oil."

Hmmm, I thought that Fish oil was better because of the EPA's and DHA's, but I didn't knew nothing about flaxseed oil.
I decided to research, and I have found an article that can help you decide which one is best for you.

The article is a short one and is easy to read and understand.

My treatment:
Daily scrubbing with Homemade Salicylic Acid Scrub; soap: homemade vegetable glycerin & essential oils. I always moisturize with organic oils. Omega 3 supplements from Mercury Free Fish Oil. Arms 100% clear.

As of January 2010: My KP has returned but this time on my thighs and a little bit on the sides of my body. Maybe it is stress related or the fact that I left my skin without exfoliating on December.

Also have psoriasis which Derm prescribed for short term use Clobetasol.
As of Jan 2010: I'm back on Clobetasol for a month.

Re: Omega 3: Fish Oil vs. Flaxseed oil

Here is another very good article for those wishing to learn more about omega-3, though it does not address the issue of fish oil. vs. flaxseed oil.

WHFoods: omega-3 fatty acids

Interestingly, omega 3 plays a role in prevention and treatment of eczema and psoriasis. Because of this, I believe it is possible that KP may also benefit from omega 3.

One problem with flaxseed oil is that it becomes rancid extremely quickly. It should only be purchased from a store that refrigerates it. And it must have been kept refrigerated after manufacture and during transportation. Because we can not tell if it has been refrigerated every step along its delivery to the store, it is best to freshly grind whole flaxseeds (whole seeds do not become rancid as quickly) daily in a coffee grinder. These ground seeds can be added to yogurt or cereal. They should never be cooked, as heat destroys omega-3.

If you take omega 3 supplements, they should be refrigerated to prevent rancidity. Scientists now think that rancid omega-3 can "promote, rather than prevent, heart disease."

My treatment: Oil pulling daily; candida diet (minimum of carbs, no sugars); omega-3 from canned salmon and sardines; sun exposure 10-15 minutes, 3 days a week, without sunblock; program to strengthen immune system; probiotic supplements; lots of water; moderate daily exercise; exfoliation with epsom salts and sugar several times a week. KP reduced 99%. If I go "off diet" -- grains, sugars, etc. -- or stop oil pulling, KP returns.

Re: Omega 3: Fish Oil vs. Flaxseed oil

I've been taking flax seed oil supplements for about 2 weeks, my KP doesn't seem too bad, but I did break out in loads of spots on my face???
