N-acetyl cysteine? is it okay?
Um, I did some research on n-acetyl cysteine (NAC) myself and found out it was an antioxidant. Or something like that, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this antioxidant?
I want to know.. 1. Can it kill me? 2. Can it damage my health? I'm perfectly healthly already and I want to convince my mom to buy me this antioxidant since I read it lightens skin and is a good powerful antioxidant. so I thought maybe if it cleans out toxins it could clear up my KP.. 3. They say on some websites to take Vitamin C with it? what do they mean? vitamind C capsules or what? ![]() ^__^ I hope someone can help me out. |

Re: N-acetyl cysteine? is it okay?
SK,
I looked up n-acetyl cysteine (NAC) and read of the many health disorders it treats: excess mucous, bipolar disorder, compulsive-obsessive behavior; reduce cravings for cocaine. Acetylcysteine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Like everything else, there are warnings: In tests, it increases blood pressure in mice, and could potentially cause damage to heart and lungs. Re: vitamin C -- There are claims that acetylcysteine taken together with Vitamin C and B1 can be used to prevent and relieve symptoms of veisalgia (hangover following ethanol (alcohol) consumption). The claimed mechanism is through scavenging of acetaldehyde, a toxic intermediate in the metabolism of ethanol. If you decide to take this, you need to educate yourself first before you make a decision. Google will give you all the information you need. I hope this helps. kebod |

Re: N-acetyl cysteine? is it okay?
SK,
No, I don't know where you can buy it, but why don't you google it and see what comes up? There are so many safe antioxidants -- Vit. E and C, cocao beans (the source of chocolate), and many others. You can read more about it here; WHFoods: Which WHFoods are highest in phytonutrient antioxidants? Does cooking affect antioxidant content? kebod |
