Getting rid of the color

During the course of this summer, I've gone out a couple times for about an hour each time. I considered my KP to be really severe, and the sun pretty much flattened out all the bumps. There are still bumps left[mostly on the parts that didn't get as much sun], and I've noticed my arms usually have a couple more bumps after several weeks of no sun exposure. I'm curious to see what will happen as winter approaches, but my concern right now is the coloring. Under certain bright lighting conditions the KP appearance can still look god awful although it has no texture. I'm committed to eliminating it 100%. Any ideas on what worked to get rid of the color?? Sunlight seems to help blend it in more with the skin but it's still visible up close.

Re: Getting rid of the color

Whenever I would get really self-conscious about my skin in the summer (I have KP on the backs of my upper arms and backs of my upper thighs) I would buy a self-tanner in medium/dark to help mask some of the redness. Usually L'Oreal Sublime. It prolonged my summer tan and helped distract some of the attention away from my arms.
But for a permanent solution I just don't know.

I'm thinking of trying flax oil to see how that does. People have said flax oil works on scarring, and I've decided I'm going to start applying this nightly and see the results on KP.
