Could I be making my KP worse?
Hello everyone, my name's Shannon and I'm new here. I'm 24 years old and have had KP (mild to moderate) for as long as I can remember. It is the worst that it has been in my whole life and I was just wondering if that could be due to the fact that I'm constantly trying new things such as scrubs and moisturizers and some of my own concoctions (sugar scrubs, etc)...This summer I have been more self-conscious wearings tanks and t-shirts than ever before and I don't know if I'd be better off just leaving it alone. I live with my boyfriend who also has KP but his is very mild just on the backs of his arms and he attributes that to not messing with it (he doesn't even use lotion)...he's constantly telling me that mine is bad because I'm always putting things on it. I just recently started taking a daily multi-vitamin and omega-3's as well and haven't noticed any improvement yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and sorry this is so long!

Re: Could I be making my KP worse?
Hi Shan,
Welcome to the KP Forum. I hope your new program of omega 3 and vitamins help. Also, putting lotions on your skin may help. You need to find which one moisturizes the best. Please keep in touch and let us know if you see improvement. kebod |

Re: Could I be making my KP worse?
ugh, my DH has had the same attitude but I think he has at least learned to keep it to himself.
But, that being said, some products do seem to irritate my skin more than others - _most products_ - and then that either increases the appearance of the KP or makes my skin itchy and then I scratch and then the big KP bumps gets scabbed or I'll squeeze the pustule-type ones. it can be a vicious cycle. for my own skin I have learned to avoid using soaps, heavily perfumed soaps and lotions and to stick to basic oils for my skin. Good luck with the vitamin and O3s. people around here will say, "it takes six weeks" but I say it takes four to six months since that's the lifecycle of body hair. (my personal opinion, and not anything more than that. ) - bd |
