Laser Hair Removal - I'm giving it a shot!

I believe that KP can effect people in different ways. We all have different backgrounds, ethinicities and live in different climates and eat different foods... which can contribute to KP effecting our skin differently and therefore there isn't a one-cure-fits-all.

I'm really hoping that laser hair removal is going to be the answer for me and I'm having a test patch done next week to see if I'm suitable for it.

There a couple of reasons why I believe it will help me.
I have KP all over my arms and legs and a little on my face. I don't tend to get too many raised bumps anymore, just trapped hairs and red dots (which I believe are there due to inflammed trapped hairs).
I scrub and exfoliate and use creams with acid in which have helped smooth my skin and stop the excess build up of keratin, but I still have a problem with trapped hairs and redness. I think my circulation is poor (I have the common occarance of my skin looking perfect in the morning when I wake up) and my skin quite tough, which is why the hairs can't break through. I'm blonde with thin hairs as well which makes it even more difficult for them to break through.
A reason why I think laser hair removal will help is that my upper arms are KP free because of years of picking and scratching. I actually have no hair growth there any more because I picked them all out as a kid and so, I don't have any KP. My skin is still a bit blotchy but I think that's because of the poor circulation and lots of tiny scars from picking and it's nothing like what I've got on my legs (which resembles permanent raser rash!)

The is the first time I've been financially able to afford LHR and also because I'm blonde I thought it wasn't possible but I've found a clinic that gives you a spray that helps to dye the root of the hairs so the laser can pick them up.

Of course, I have to wait and see whether the test patch is successful but I've got my fingers crossed and I'll let you know how I get on.

Yeah, good luck Enviro!! I've always thought about LHR because let's face it, if it doesn't solve the KP problem, at least you have the reward of not needing to shave or wax! But I'm not in the financial position to try it yet. I hope it goes well, would love to know if it works!

I don't want to disappoint you but I am afraid your kp will not be gone. You might get some improvement but to have it completely gone....I doubt it.

I am currently undergoing this procedure, as I have lots of pretty dark coarse hair on my legs that usually gives me LOTS of bumps from ingrowns and I can tell you that the kp is not going away...I still have the red dots even if the hair in some areas is not growing anymore.
I am not done yet with my treatments...I still have 2 more sessions (out of 6 that I purchased)

I am pleased to say that my legs look much better, but far away from normal. I am still happy because I get rid of such an annoyance - hair everywhere on my legs, but the "polka red dots" skin is still in place. Only a dark tan makes me happy and normal looking.

I wish that things will go different for you...YOU NEVER KNOW! Keep the faith!

ps - I read a post from another girl around here who said that she got LHR and the kp is still showing

It's been almost 3 months since we first heard from Envirogirl about her plans to have LHR, but we never heard back on what the results were. Envirogirl, are you still here???
