Is this KP? Pictures Included

I've had this "condition" since Middle School and think it's kp. My skin is extremely dry and has the bumps, only in my case the bumps are dark brown not red (naturally) which in my case means the bumps show up 100% more than normal. I'm getting married in a few months, and would hate to spend the entire honeymoon creatively hiding my ugly legs. I've read that manually and chemically exfoliating is best, but in an extreme case like mine, what is recommended for relatively short term results? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you. |

Hi,
yes I think that's KP too. By the way if you want to put an image in the trhead you use [*IMG*]link to image[/*IMG*] but remove all the *s As for short term fixes, I'm not sure how effective any of them are because most things need a long time to work. Christina posted that she'd had some good success with an Aveda Salt Scrub in this thread (http://www.keratosispilaris.org/gene...-guide-12.html at the bottom of the page) and I've heard other people say that Bath and Body Works Eucalyptus wash works quite quickly but I haven't tried it myself so I can't vouch for it (there are quite a few threads on it if you do a search). If you have a few months you could try the Sea Buckthorn treatment, I think mine is at least 60% better after about 9 weeks, but it probably won't work for everyone and it's supposed to take 4 months to go completely (because that's how long the mites live or something). And whatever you do, don't forget to moisturise! Congratulations on your wedding and good luck with your KP ![]() |

Re: Is this KP? Pictures Included
Wow. Thanks guys for the great advice and I think I'll try some of the suggestions you've given me. I'm getting to a point where I just want to scrub my entire body with a pumice stone in hopes that it will go away, but I know I can't.
One thing I might do is to buy a scrub brush and some of the chemical exfoliators I've heard talked about here. Even if it lightens these areas, it's better than nothing and I'm not looking for a miracle cure overnight, but I would like to enjoy my honeymoon. My case is so severe that I think I need to gradually build up to something strong. One other question. I've started to moisturize like crazy, but wanted to ask if i should shave my legs like normal or will the chemicals and scrubbing make my legs sensitve? |

hey you should be careful with chemical exfoliants. ive herd people say that the aha bha can remove skin pigmentation for black people. that would leave you with white blotches on your body[ that could be permanent] so be careful. you should try a small area on your skin for a couple of weeks just to be safe.
