Starting Candida treatment.

So i was reading threads and i learned about candida. I was already on a diet very similar to the anti-candida or candida diet, and it helped my KP, but mostly my KPRF. So i talked to my mom about it and apparently she has actually been treating herself as well. She also told me when i was younger that i had a lot of thrush in my mouth, which is a major indicator of overgrowth of candida, and around that time i was actually given anti-biotics for about half a year. So i was in luck because she actually had a herb pill already based on lowering candida, as well as pro-biotics. So i will keep this updated, daily. The anti-candida diet if anyone does not know is basically. Don't eat anything but meat, vegies, and some fruit. So this is my first day, yesterday i took 2 capryl which my mom has said has worked for her. I will be taking 2 capryl for a week or so and maybe up it to 4 in due time.

Day 1: Feel good today, my skin tone seems normal, and i am not experiencing any tingling or flushing/blushing from my KPRF. Have not been able to tell whether it has had any effects on KP in general yet. I have found that this diet is very healthy for my stomach, before i used to get gas and stomach aches often.

NOTE: I am also on paxil, and weening myself off steroids...and plan on quiting the cream altogether in a few weeks depending on what my derm says on my appointment on may 21st.

Re: Starting Candida treatment.

Justakid,

I have been on a candida program for 10 months. For the first few months, I used herbal anti-candida capsules and a special diet, similar to yours. Not much happened. Then I found Bee Wilder's candida web page. The diet is very strict and she has different ideas about curing candida, but I am seeing great progress. I have not completely eliminated it, but it may take several years, as I had candida over-growth (candidiasis) for at least 10 years before I realized what I had.

Here is a link to Bee's yahoo web page. You have to join, but it doesn't cost anything, and as a member, you will be able to read her many files and see how to deal with this.
candidasupport : Candida Support Group by Bee

I eat zero fruit, except for lime juice or lemon juice, lots of fish (meats are allowed), eggs, low-carb veggies (no corn, peas, beets, potatoes, sweet potatoes), and lots of good oils to maintain my weight, like coconut oil, olive oil and organic butter.

You are fortunate to have your mother already on your side and helping with this. It is so much easier to stick to a strict diet when someone else in the family is eating the same.

Please keep in touch. I have been researching candida on the internet for a year and may be able to answer some of your questions.

By the way, did you take the on-line Dr.Crook test? It has an unfortunate name, but it is as good a test as any for checking if you have candida over-growth.

Re: Starting Candida treatment.

I plan on doing a spit test soon, but in the mean time am treating myself already. The diet is not so much a problem, because before i found out about candida i have already been on it for about 2 weeks throwing all foods out that i may be sensitive to. All i drink is water, a little lemon juice. For food it is mainly meets, eggs, and some veggies. Also i am trying to lose weight at the same time, it is working very well. I am about 5'10 185 atm, so just trying to slim down some, already lost about 12 pounds on the diet. Anyway i am keeping a picture journal also on an account, and will start posing them soon. For each day i take one close to morning, and than if i flush/blush later that day i take another one(Camera phone ftw). I need to test for the candida still, but i am fairly sure i have it because i fit a lot of the symptoms.

  • Frequent stomach pains and digestion problems
  • Skin problems (skin infections, eczema, psoriasis, acne)
  • Anxiety
  • Itchy skin
  • Intense cravings for sugars, sweets, and breads
Also had thrush when i was younger and ear infections often.

Also even if i found that i don't have it, i am sensitive to sugar, wheat, nuts, and cutting out caffine seemed to help also. Basically when i cut these things/blush out i flush way less often

Re: Starting Candida treatment.

I think you are on the right track, but beware it's one that will take a lot of patience and dedication.

I have tried going that route (because I am convinced it's the right one!), but I couldn't stay on it for too long ...

Re: Starting Candida treatment.

You skin looks great when you aren't flushing. Look man, I did the full blown Candida diet for 3 months because I have SD, flushing, and KP on the back of my arms. All I noticed was that I went from weighing 205lbs to 168lbs. Im not even kidding! All I ate was fats and protein along with vegetables. If your looking to lose weight then go for it but it didn't help my skin conditions at all really. And I also tried using ACV on my face for SD. It was horrible! It smelled so bad and made my skin even more red. Im going on Paxil to help my flushing and my OCD and anxiety and Im getting laser treatments done. Also I use Finacea, Plexion as a cleanser, and Hydro 40 foam as a Urea based moisturizing foam. Its working pretty good too.

Re: Starting Candida treatment.

I am starting to think about laser treatment. I went cold turkey on steroids and 4 days in i don't flush or anything anymore. I believe my flushing was from the rebound of using steroid the night before. Anyways i might just do some laser for general redness, i think i will be fine after that.

Re: Starting Candida treatment.

i came across these articles about coeliac disease. im thinking that it might be possible
that some of us who think we have canida may actually have this desease. people who have coeliac disease cant eat gluten either. this disease prevents your body from absorbing all the nutrients you eat. and maybe its stoping you from absorbing vitamin A
witch could be causing your kp. maybe..... you should check it out
