Angry New here!

Hi, I'm Lynn. I'm 21 years old and I'm relatively new to what KP is and its treatments.

I've had KP for as long as I can remember. I have it on my arms and my thighs, but my arms are worse than my thighs are. I just found out what this was last summer. I looked it up on google and found that it was exactly what I had! I was relieved to finally know what was on me.

I had noticed that the KP would go away when I'd get a tan, which was great, and I usually put on sunblock since I'm really fair skinned as it is, so I get an extra benefit.

This past Saturday, I didn't have sunblock and I was outside for a few hours- about 3. I got a really bad sunburn (stupid me- I wasn't thinking I would get this bad) and remembered that when I got even a little burnt the KP would go away, so I took pictures for myself to "document" the KP. Well, at first, it hurt like hell as was really inflamed. I looked at it today and there seem to be more bumps, but less KP redness than usual. I got a friend to take a picture of the sunburn on my back (she said it was "epic") and I noticed bumps that look like KP on my back! I've never noticed KP on my back ever! The unburned part of my back is clear, but exactly where the burn starts has KPish type of bumps and redness.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Re: New here!

Perhaps the burn dried your skin out. Have you tried using extra moisturizer? Aloe vera is very healing for sunburns.

Re: New here!

I got some aloe gel yesterday and realized it hurt like hell to get it on, but I put it on constantly. I got some on my back using a Toblerone box (haha). I got some aloe vera in a spray container so I don't have to touch it and put myself through agony.

Re: New here!

Parmonie,

What were the other ingredients in the gel? It shouldn't have hurt when you put it on. I hope it doesn't have alcohol in it.

Re: New here!

No, it didn't sting. It hurt to touch because it's burned. haha Sorry for the confusion.

There's no alcohol in it, either.

Re: New here!

You must have really burned yourself! Keep putting on the aloe. It is very healing and soothing.

I have several potted aloe vera plants. When I have a burn or cut, I slice off a tip of a leaf and put the gel on. Fresh gel is very potent. If you want a house plant, get an aloe. They are very easy to grow.
