I have been reading posts for about a month now without commenting and wanted to share some success. Firstly, I am 30 and have had KP since I was a teenager. It never got better with age only worse. Every couple years or so I would go to the Derm. hoping to find out if they could finally name what was on my skin and offer me a cure. Well, They just kept saying nothing really helps except moisturizing and sent me home with a few sample products. When I found this site on line I felt amazed that there were so many people who suffered from the condition.

So anyways, I started with the coconut oil suggestion which actually did help a little bit. But I just went and bought AmLactin XL, pretty pricey 37-40$, and have been putting that on twice daily for about four days and my KP is 80-90% gone!!!! I know from reading that what works for every person is different but I had to share this lotion with you all.

You can get it over the counter at a pharmacy. My only fear is that one day it will stop working. This is the first time in 15 years that my skin has ever started to clear up. I have it on my arms, thighs, and bum and it has helped in all areas. The arms took a little longer to clear.

Whats the percentage of this product? 5% 12% ?
Also one more question is the REDNESS gone????
Thats a biggie for me...I have it pretty bad ALL over my body.
I have been scrubbing in the shower using Neutrogena acne thereapy body was with 2%salicylic acid body was in it. then after the shower I'm applying Keralyt 6% Salicylic acid on my arms back legs.

Its appears to be working - My skin is very smooth - not as bumpy...but the REDNESS is still there.

Where did you buy the AmLactin XL?

I bought the XL at CVS. Just go to the pharmacy and clarify that you want the AmLactin XL and if they don't have then they order it for free. As for the redness... Not sure yet if that is helping or not because I do have red scars from being a picker. I have stopped picking since starting the Amlactin to which has helped. again, I have only used for four days so we'll see. Also, are your arms red like a sunburn or do you have a lot of little red dots?

Now as far as the redness goes -
It appears to look like both sunburn and tiny red dots. Although from looking at it some more - I think its more on the lines of red tiny dots - Im a picker too... always have been.
And since this is a inherit skin condition... I have had it since I can remember - and picked since I can remmeber...
Its not too bad or even close on my face.
Its really bad on my arms and legs back....etc.

No problem. I hope you have success with it! Let me know if you find anything good to get rid of redness. I think maybe getting a tan would help even out the skin tone. My arms have not seen sun in ages! Good luck to you.

I know it is crazy! Just remember everything seems to be working different for people. I also saw this product online for 26.50. You can go to a dermatologist and get some samples too to try it out first but then I guess you still end up having to pay for the dermatologist appt. Hope it works out for you. I still have some redness but I don't care as much about that as i did those annoying bumps. I am searching to see if anything helps with redness or just see if that also decreases as i continue to use the amlactin and coconut oil.

Oh I love this stuff!! I also use Kerol Redi Clothes, but those are more expensive and smell odd. This lotion by itself twice a day is pretty much enough to keep most of my KP away.


I bought a smaller bottle (I think.. It only said Amlactin, not XL) from HEB for only $18 if anyone is strapped for cash.

Yes, that picture is the AmLactin I use. John, I don't have before and after pictures unfortunately. I would say my KP was medium in severity. My legs have pretty much cleared up but for one or two bumps. My arms are proving to be more stubborn but continue to remain 80-90% free. I also exfoiliate ALOT and use coconut oil in the shower. So I am doing many different things that may be helping. I was already exfoiliating and using coconut oil before the AmLactin though and noticed a big difference when I introduced AmLactin into the regime. And finally, I have really attempted to stop picking at myself and that has also made a HUGE difference in appearance.
