Re: Commercial products that have worked
I have KP on my face, upper arms, buttocks, and inner thighs. One product that has worked GREAT on my inner thighs and buttocks is Tend Skin. (it is designed for bumps and ingrown hairs) I just use it as needed and the redness and the bumps are gone in just a few days. I'm afraid to try it on my face but I'm going to try it on my arms a few times and see what happens.

Re: Commercial products that have worked
Hi All
My daughter, who has KP and a good case of KPRF really, really liked Avon's Moisture Therapy Intensive Skin Bump Minimizer, which has salicylic acid in it. They discontinued it last year, but I found out this week that they're bringing it back in the next month or so. If anybody is interested, you can order it before it hits the catalogs / web site (and it will be on sale) www.youravon.com/ My daughter was thrilled about it being brought back, so I'm ordering ten bottles of the stuff. I don't want her running out again. :-) Last edited by Elsa Zoe; 10-07-2008 at 03:45 AM.. |

Lemslip Butter Bar from Lush is quite good for calming the skin down and also Johnson's Holiday Skin lotion.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) at 15% or greater, such as NeoStrata, applied as a cream.
And/Or Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA aka Salicylic Acid) at 2%, such as the inexpensive astringents by Sea Breeze or Neutrogena, applied generously and left on. The body scrubs do not work the same since they're washed off. I also do not use any moisturizer whatsoever. My KP is just too severe, and moisturizers seem to make my skin cells more prone to sticking and inflamation (lachydrin/amlactin/urea/etc). After 4+ years of trying different products I keep going back to the "acids", but I'm still looking for something even better. These might be too harsh for those with minor KP. Ameliaris is actually working for me. Not taking away what is there but preventing new from coming.

Re: Commercial products that have worked
Commercial Laser Hair removal. I had five treatments at Louisville Laser in Spokane. I have a couple of spots occasionally, but ultimately I am clear of the eruptions and scaly skin. I am 39, and had the treatments done a couple of years ago, so I do have a lot of redness left from all of the years of picking at it (lovely).
I wish someone had told me years ago that this would almost totally cure me of this, but the upside is that Laser Hair Removal is relatively inexpensive these days. I would recommend 8 treatments to totally remove all pigmented hairs. Now I will work on improving the scarring. Last edited by Elsa Zoe; 10-07-2008 at 03:43 AM.. |

Paula's Choice Weightless Body Treatment with 2% BHA. This has the BHA and moisturizes the skin so it feels very soft and smooth. $19.95 for 3oz.

Re: Commercial products that have worked
Diflorasone diacetate, 0.05% (This is a steroid ointment)
Urea, 40% (This is a lotion) Both of these are RX and I am using the generic version. I was instructed by my dermatologist to stop using the Diflorasone diacetate once I notice an improvement in the KP as it is a steroid and it can thin out your skin and cause redness. You then give it a rest inbetween applications of about 2-3 days. I have been applying the Diflorasone diacetate and then the Urea right over it after I shower. I started using these as a treatment earlier this year and I have noticed big improvement. I've been able to feel confident enough to wear tank tops this summer. |

I have been using AMBI, it is promoted as being a face cleaner that evens skin tone. It works great with my KP on my arms but not as well on my face.

Re: Commercial products that have worked
I found out that nutrition plays such a huge role with our skin. I switched to an all natural vitamin called Vitalizer which has all of your vitamins and minerals plus a probotic which is essential for skin and rashes. Then for my face I use Enfuselle cleanser and Enfuselle Hydrating lotion, and for my body I use Moisturizing Shower Gel and Hand & Body lotion. I found these products on igo-eco.com. All of the products are ecofriendly and all natural. No Chemicals. I swear by these products. These products are AMAZING! It is like putting vitamins directly on your skin. No greasy feeling and the results are awesome. ![]() |

Re: Commercial products that have worked
Hi, I´m writing fron Chile, Southamerica. I´ve had KP on my arms for 7 years. The thing that worked the best for me is the exfoliation with Lipidiose by Vichy. Then I use a 10% urea lotion. When I want to use a sleeveless shirt I use a make up foundation called Dermablend by Vichy, and it is fantastic because it hides the red spot without blocking my pores. I´d like to try the microdermoabrasion, I´d like to find someone who was try it.
Thanks |

Re: Commercial products that have worked
(This is for KPRF)
Hello, this is my first post on this board, although I previously have roamed it endlessly (along with many others) looking for a cure for my KPRF. Since I was a young teen this condition has affected my life badly and it was only recently that I found a routine which gives me complete control over it and keeps it mostly unnoticeable. The only times where its noticeable now are the common situations such as exercise, alcohol, cold weather etc. I just wanted to try and help others who dont yet have it under control because I remember how hard it was. Things that work: Finacea Gel This stuff is known for reducing redness in rosacea sufferers and is also known for softening keratin which is why I think it works so well. ND: YAG Laser Our paticular skin condition cannot be helped much by lasers like general rosacea can. Although, this paticular laser treatment helps because it penetrates deep targetting the blood vessels rather than the surface skin, focusing on the flushing. Dr Nick Lowe Redness Correcting Cream This is by far the best moisturiser to combat red skin. It has active ingredients to combat and block red skin and also is skin color tinted to mask redness. Dermatologica Refness Relief This stuff is really soothing and green tinted, both calming skin redness and masking it. Kava Kava This stuff really keeps you calm and mellow, thus reducing flushing. I have tried HUNDREDS of products/methods for many, many years and the products I just listed currently have my condition pretty much completely unnoticeable unless I am in any of those common situations for flushes that I previously mentioned. The only other things I will add are use ultra sensitive and natural soaps and cleansers, always wash/dry your face VERY gently, and dont leave the finacea on, wash it off after a little while (experiment to see what works for you). Another key is leaving a couple of hours time after putting anything on your face so it can calm down. Also, avoid all those common flush triggers like the plauge. Good luck guys, hope i've helped fadeout |
