Hmmm. I guess different things work for different skin. St. Ives Apricot Scrub makes my skin feel great and totally gets my blackheads out. Just gotta be gentle when you scrub I think. They also have Apricot Scrub for sensitive skin, and the beads in it are really soft and the product is very creamy and doesn't have any apparrent "volatile" smell. I don't think any of their products have a "volatile" smell. I think the smells of all their products are pretty mellow.

Post Re: Thread Devoted to What Works For You

I have had this all my life, but only recently knew the name for it. This is the most effective treatment I have found. It is called Body Dew After Bath Oil by Tasteful Treasures. It is a very light oil that is easily absorbed with the main ingredient being carnation oil. What has worked best for me is to exfoliate the area in the shower first. I know, my doctor said don't do this, and it does make the redness worse for about an hour, but that diminishes quickly. Then right after I dry off I apply this oil. Just a normal amount works, you don't have to slather it on and be super oily to get results. I use two or three sprays for each arm, five or six for each thigh...a little goes a long way. I noticed a diminishing in the redness and rough feel after only one application. It is best to use this at night before you go to bed, because my understanding is that pressure on your skin either from lying on the affected areas or your clothing rubbing against the affected is what aggravates this condition. Anyway I also take a quick shower each morning and apply again. My kp was almost completely gone in about a week to 10 days. The bad part...Tasteful Treasures is a company that sells sexual products, so make sure you are in a secure place when you go to their website, www.tastefultreasures.com. This oil is supposed to contain pheromones that attract the opposite sex, but I just think it smells good and your skins feel wonderful once it is absorbed, about 5 to 10 minutes. A bottle of the oil costs about $20, but it will last you six months or more depending on how large the affected areas are. Good luck and let me know if it works for anyone else.

Re: Thread Devoted to What Works For You

I know perfect solution that is cost free as well!!!!!
I used all the available methods and none of them were effective. What worked for me was OCEAN, SUNTAN-UV LIGHT, and SOAP WITH VASELINE. The soap is called lever 2000 vaseline intensive care. I don't know if I can write it on here. Anyway as you all know Ocean is very salty. salt is good for your skin and bla bla bla...go swimming in the ocean atleast once a week and get a sun tan...the skin will look better in no time.

Re: Thread Devoted to What Works For You

Hello

I´ve kp since childhood, now I’m 39.

*I eliminate of my diet milk and bread only.

*Ten years ago I try laser hair removal in my legs and it was the best way to spend money for me. I can`t do it in my arms because I have thin hair.

*I also exfoliate with a lufa, or salt or bicarbonate + honey or aloe. I never use soap (detergent), Eucerin oil (Eucerin syndet gel) works very well for me. I make my bath salts and bombs at home. I´m devoted of bathsalts. My formula: 500g of bathsalts+ 2bathbomb+ 2efervescent aspirin.

*Twice a week I take sauna or steam bath, it works too.

*I usually take spirulina or primrose oil or omega or …

Finally, my thread:

Rose Hip Oil, pure 100%: emolient, to manage dryness and redness. Massage a few drops of the oil. (in the morning).

Pai Mu Tan Tea or Bai Mu Dan Tea: astringent, to manage bumps, and clear pores. Infuse the tea leaves in hot water and store in the fridge. The skin reacts (a little hot&pain) but don´t pick. It´s no necessary to rinse off. In the evening.

Since the first day you can see improvement, less redness, more smooth.

I think that the two things create a synergy.

Re: Thread Devoted to What Works For You

nothing beats better than ocean water treatment. I used every medicine, cream available out there. KP, stieva-A, Retinol, etc. Now I use ocean water I fill up in a container once a week and I wash my hands and arms, face with it. It really makes skin look good. Today I thought I could help others by shipping them the water and new container for maybe 15-20 dollars. I live on pacific ocean in Canada. If you are interested in them let me know. my email is ******.

Honzo,

If you read our forum rules, you will see that we have a policy of not allowing members to sell products. This is because we would have no control over the quality of the product, hence, could not prevent scams; also this forum is not meant to be a commercial opportunity for members. I will get advice from our administrator, Elsa, to see if she thinks this offer should be deleted.

I'm sure you have the best intentions and want to help others, but this is one of our forum rules, and we can't apply the rule to some and not to others.

Why wouldn't adding sea salt to purified water have the same results?

Here's what works for me...

I'm 26 and have had moderate KP on my arms and the back of my legs (both redness and bumps) as long as I can remember. I just recently found out what it was and started trying to do something about it. My regime seems to have almost completely cleared up the bumps in both areas, cleared up most of the redness on my legs and some of the redness on my arms. I use Koru KP Oleum (Koru Pharmaceuticals - ---Koru kp---Oleum) right after I finish my shower, before I towel off, on both my arms and legs. I also use a chocolate body scrub from Bath and Body Works once a week. I just started using Olay Ultra Moisture with Shea Butter body wash and have noticed that my skin is even softer. Because my arms are still red, I sometimes put a tinted moisturizer on my upper arms when I wear short sleeve shirts. I also use Amlactin lotion at night sometimes as well, but I'm not very consistent with that. I'm pretty satisfied with the progress. I just recently started dating a new guy and he hasn't asked me anything about my skin (which in the past guys would usually ask about it once and that would be the end of it). He also randomly made a comment about my skin being soft...yay! Hope this helps someone!

Castor Oil and Meditation Helps Sarahlove

I have had KP for as long as I can remember....Finally I decided that it was up to me to heal myself. I didn't allow myself to think negatively about my skin anymore, and told myself that my legs would be ready in time for summer. Everynight I meditated and pictured my skin clear, physically brushing away the negative energy from my legs.
One night while meditating on it, castor oil popped into my head. I remembered reading books written by Edgar Cayce where he believed castor oil could heal most things. I went to my bathroom, found my castor oil and rubbed it onto my legs. I took my time massaging it in, picturing my skin clear and believing that this would work for me.
The very next day, my skin looked SO much better. I couldn't believe it.
I started doing this every night, sometimes leaving the castor oil on all night, sometimes showering it off and using coconut oil after my shower.
I have only been doing this fo a few weeks and my skin has changed dramatically. I can't believe that this was the answer for me the whole time.
I know this kind of thing may not work for everyone, but if it helps inspire anyone, it's worth it.

Oil pulling Reduces Bumps and Redness foe LDRJA

It's Been 18 Days & I think I am showing signs of improvement
After joining this site and reading information from other sites, I decided to start oil pulling twice a day (I used 100% refined soybean oil because it was already in the kitchen) and I started scrubbing daily in the morning with a half of cup of sugar and 2 tablespoons of oil.

So, these were the 3 photos from different angles that I posted of my leg on the day that I joined the site.

most creams bring out my kp more - especially if greasy and sun creams are a no no - even after just five minutes you can literally see them coming up

so it might be worth a try for those whose reactions are similar to mine ??

also i saw the above post and essential fatty acids can play a big prt in treating this condition - it was on the embarrasing illness programme last year - and said that taking essential faty acids would help to break don the keratin which seems to go with what kbod is saying xx hope i have been a bit of help x
what is essential faty acids in spanish please? thx

Re: Thread Devoted to What Works For You

Hi, I specifically registered for this community to share what has worked for me.

I, too, have been to many dermatologists who have brushed off KP like it's not a big deal, spent what little I had on microdermabrasion treatments, glycolic, salycylic, sulfur soap, loofahs galore, tend skin, salt scrubs. I've had this condition since I could remember but only on my arms and legs. As unsightly as it looked, wearing long-sleeve tops has always irritated the condition, so I've always worn tanks for comfort, but very rarely wore shorts because of the redness and high-visibility of the bumps.

Over the last couple of months it had started to get progressively worse (didn't think that it could get worse than what it was), and I had been covered in bumps on my forearms and thighs so obvious that my friends had started to comment on it, as they had never seen it quite that severe.

I came across a home diamond microdermabrasion kit, that had a 30-day return guarantee and seeing as microdermabrasion had helped me before (though it was too expensive to continue), I decided to order the device to try it for a week or two.

The kit was purchased from
Timepeel - Natural Diamond Microdermabrasion for Home Use.

and I also purchased Glytone Ultra Heel and Elbow Cream from SkinCareRx.com (they have a 20% discount till July 18th, 2008)

My routine was to use the Diamond Microdermabrasion device every other day and apply the Glytone cream immediately after each treatment, and then the following day. It stings a little (like most acid treatments) but I've had incredible results within one week of use. I have to say that I was ready to be disappointed but was so relieved that I've finally found something that works for me. The skin on my forearms are smooth (I have never been able to say that), and my legs are definitely improving.

I hope that this may offer some hope to others that have tried and tried again. I plan to continue to use the device a couple times a week but will apply the Glytone cream to my arms and legs daily. Glytone also offers a milder version in a lotion for the face.

All the best.

j

St. Ives Apricot Scrub Blemish & Blackhead Control with Salicylic Acid, for Oily/Acne Prone Skin
Apricot Scrub Blemish & Blackhead Control with Salicylic Acid, for Oily/Acne Prone Skin ($3.49 for 6 ounces) has too many negatives to make it a worthy contender in the facial scrub category. Walnut shells and cornmeal can be too abrasive and tear skin, the amount of sodium lauryl sulfate is drying and irritating, and the volatile fragrance components prompt further irritation. Salicylic acid at 2% is listed as an active ingredient, but it’s pointless to include this ingredient in a rinse-off product.

If you have sensitive skin, I wouldn't recommend trying an apricot scrub (no matter how gentle you are with it).
Thankys for sharing your experience

My experience with St. Ives Salicylic Acid Scrub has always been great! I have ultra sensitive skin.

Re: Thread Devoted to What Works For You

hello! i've watched this forum for a long time now but its my first time writing. just wanna say that i've found something that works for the kp on my legs but sadly not arms and shoulders altho its not as bad. every morning i use an infrared sauna that we have for about 20-30 min and then in the shower i use neutrogena acne scrub followed w/ eucerin intensive repair lotion. my legs are virtually bump-free now but red dots still remain and my arms are getting better.
