Where is the research that we need?
I just cannot honestly believe that there isn't some brilliant dermatologist/doctor out there that would put all of his time and effort into a condition that affects soooooooooo many people!! Does this seem crazy to anyone else? Isn't it like 1 in 4 people have this?!?! Just blows my mind I guess.........thought I would share.

Re: Where is the research that we need?
Hi LoriLL,
Maybe there is no research on KP because it isn't life threatening, and doesn't really mess with our health at all, just our heads. Is KP thought to be a cosmetic issue and not a disease or illness? I would be interested in other's thoughts on this. kebod |

Re: Where is the research that we need?
I agree with what you are saying, but what about people with scars, too much body hair, a uni brow, or me who suffer from hyperhidrosis (excessive hand and feet sweat)---there are millions of things to help with those and they aren't life threatening...........You would think someone would be interested in helping all of us and cashing in on the fact that no one else has.
I'm gonna start googling skin care clinics and major hospitals and start sending emails to them to do research or just let them know that there are millions of us out here who are wanting help--maybe it hasn't dawned on anyone brilliant enough to get the ball rolling.............you never know. Maybe if more of us did the same--just maybe we could get some attention and some results!! |

Re: Where is the research that we need?
You'd think that considering how many people suffer from it, someone would consider developing a cosmetic treatment - I'm sure they'd make a lot of money xx

Re: Where is the research that we need?
Even if the misery of KP is only cosmetic, that should be reason enough to do research and develop effective products. Look at how many body products are used only for cosmetic reasons. I like to think that given enough time, there will be a solution to KP. In the meantime, our group here is doing a great job of trying different methods and treatments, reporting the results, and supporting each other.
