Question acids? oils? creams?

Hey there, I am new to the site (but not to kp sadly) and have spent the past week digging through archives trying to figure out what things like AHA 10% and such mean, and finally gave up in hopes that someone can quickly shed some light on me ?

I have had severe kp on my upperarms, thighs, butt, and kprf, ever since I was 2. I have finally become fed up with the kp on my arms though, and have gotten extremely embarrassed by it. My arms look as if every single hair follicle is just a red dot with bumps covering them everywhere. I am sure there are a thousand scars from picking also, but I can't even tell..which scares me. I NEED TO GET RID OF THIS.
I don't care which I get rid of, redness or bumps. I'd prefer both but honestly I am begging for a solution for either of them.

I have seen posts of acids (scary!) of different percentages and peeling skin, lazers and oil pulling, and heavy creams galore. I have no clue what has actually been shown somewhat effective.

I know this is bothersome, but can someone just tell me a regime or at least a few products that will help me out? I'm in college so my budget is pretty tight and cannot afford 50 dollar a peice products.

Thank you guys so much!

Re: acids? oils? creams?

AHAs are alpha-hydroxy acids, which come from fruits =]

You can get them in lotions and creams, at different percentages.

AHAs exfoliate the skin by "dissolving" the bonds between skin cells, helping your skin to shed its dead cells and revealing the fresh new cells underneath.

A cream i have is atrac-tain, with 10% urea, and 4% AHA.
THere are different types of AHAs, the ones associated with helping KP are lactic acid, saliclylic acid and glycolic acid

The lowest you should use is 4% because any less is pretty useless. The best to start with if you want higher than 4 is between 8% and 15%
