Tooth fillings?

Hi everyone

I've had KP on my arms and legs all my life but noticed a significant permanent improvement and 'softening' after having all eight of my mercury 'amalgam' tooth fillings removed in my early 20's and replaced with non-metal fillings.

This improvement saw me wearing t-shirts and shorts in hot weather for the first time since childhood.

Obviously these fillings weren't the reason for my KP (mercury fillings are banned in some countries) but I wonder if mercury leeching from my fillings when brushing was somehow contributing to toxicity in the rest of my body and therefore worsening the KP??

I've hesistated posting this as I don't want to start any mad rush to dentists but I would be interested to hear anyone's thoughts if they had done similar to improve their KP and I would suggest anyone having fillings in future opt for the non metal type.

Other than this I exfoliate, use a salicylic wash, etc. Like some others I think caffeine has a big effect on my KP but as I work shifts often the lure of the bean is hard to resist

Re: Tooth fillings?

There could be a link... but my KP got much better in my late teens and early twenties. I think it's a combination of the end of your growth period and when you're a bit older you do the whole exfoliating and moisturising routine a bit more!
I've often noticed after a weekend of clubbing (drinking and being in a smokey atmosphere) that my KP is worse. I def think toxins in your body show quickly through your skin.

Re: Tooth fillings?

Mad Hatter,

We are exposed to so many toxins, and mercury in our almalgam tooth fillings is one of them. KP may have many different causes, such as how one individual reacts to a particular toxin. I'm not surprised at all to read that having your fillings removed lessened your KP.

Do you think caffeine makes your KP worse? Another guilty pleasure to give up....
