Exclamation I Made A Lens On Squidoo Dedicated To Sufferers Of Kp. Please Read Me :-)

The 'Invisible' skin disorder, Keratosis Pilaris aka Chicken Skin. on Squidoo

Hello everyone,

It has been a while since I've been here. I found the site last year and I would like to say thank you to all the people that have inspired me to think positively about my KP.

Before I found this site I didn't understand what the little polka marks on my skin were. From coming here regularly I compiled a list of various treatment options and went on my way. I've tried a lot of things and needless to say I still have visible KP. The good news is I feel positive about my self. I wanted perfect skin but instead I got better skin. Which I am now grateful for.

The treatments I've used include:

AHA - Neostrata & DCL
Zirh body bar
KP duty scrub and lotion,
sea buckthorn soap
oil pulling
msm tablets
Diet change

A whole lot of things. I'm now in a position where I feel I have control over my KP. I can wear what I want and feel confident. If anybody is interested in learning what my experiences were with each treatment, I will happily reply back on this thread.

I will always long for a cure. If we shout out loud enough about KP they'll cure it. I know everybody's condition is different but at one point I felt so embarrassed about it, I didn't want to live.

Th lens include all the treatment I used or compiled over 4 months on this site. There are also pics and a video which I put on You tube. Please support my lens and rate it so we can spread the word. Thank you.

The actual link is www. squidoo.com/chickenskin. No space after www. it's coming up as a title link.

The 'Invisible' skin disorder, Keratosis Pilaris aka Chicken Skin. on Squidoo

OK,

So I've been treated my KP for about 6 months now. I got all the most of treatment advice from this forum.

1) AHA REVITALIZING LOTION 20 BY DCL

This was the very first product I tried. I went straight in there at the highest potency. The advice generally is start with 15 gradually moving up 20 but I skipped that. I used it twice a day without fail for about a month. I was quite shocked with results to be honest. My skin was silky smooth within the first few days. It did sting a little at first but no burning or bad side effects. I continued to DCL for a number of months because I was impressed.

The only downside is AHA really and truly is temporary. If you stop using it the bumpy texture comes back again. I am saying this after 6 months of using the product. I love it and recommend it but in my own personal opinion to maintain the smooth skin you will always need to use it.

2) Neostrata lotion plus 15

I prefer this to DCL it smells better. Thats one thing to note, AHA lotion doesn't have an appealing smell. I tend to use coco butter in between. Neostrata does the job just as well as DCL. Even though it is a lower potency, I found the effects the same.

3) Zirh Body Bar (triple alpha hydroxy acid)

This was cool. My skin felt softer after using it. I found this to be quite expensive for a soap and wouldn't say it lasted that much longer than regular soap. I replaced this with Johnson's baby liquid soap. It's cheap and does the job. I think any strong moisturizing shower cream will do the job.

4) Sea Buckthorn Soap

Amazing! I would recommend this 100%. It's smells wonderful and smooth out all the rough KP bumps perfectly. I live in London and I can't find anywhere that sells this soap so I buy online. The downside is, it doesn't last too long when using it in the shower everyday. I tend to switch between johnsons liquid soap and sea buckthorn. I don't use the face doctor soap either as it's quite expensive. I use Aubrey

5) Oil pulling

A load of crock. Sorry, it's my opinion. I did this rigorously for 2 months and all I noticed was a pinker tongue. It did absolutely nothing for my Skin. I used cold pressed sesame oil. I don't know, maybe I believed from the beginning it wouldn't work, so I didn't really see all the benefits. I would recommend you try it but it did not work for me.

6) MSM TABLETS

On my list of must haves forever! After using this for about a month I noticed clearer skin. I had quite a lot of blemishes and patches from picking at my KP and after using this they seemed to have disappeared. My skin looks brighter more even toned. And my hair has started growing a lot faster, it's a lot thicker too. MSM is great. You actually see the different as opposed to so many other supplements out there.

This present day I am using neostrata lotion plus, MSN tablets and Seabuckthorn soap. I am very please with my skin and hope for even better results in another 6 months time.

Please support my Keratosis Pilaris Lens on Squidoo. If you rate it more people will see. Thanks.
