I am using the MD skincare one with glycolic acid and saly. acid in it. Expensive ($78 for 30 apps) but it is fast and easy to use. I use it 2 days on, one day off or more if my skin is decent. It is working well, but definitely not a lifelong cure. But it puts me in tank tops and bikinis so who is to complain.
The only thing is that it is taking my tan off (grrr ) |

Does it take the bumps away completly or just smooth them out? Is there any redness left? Thanks!

if i used it daily, i am sure they would be completely gone, but i have about 20% smoothed out and 80% gone. They say to get it done professionally first (check your day spa, I know the one I go to does it) but I didn't, although I am sure it is a better way to start.
As far as the redness, I don't know b/c I have a tan from a couple of vacations this summer. As soon as it fades, I will let you know ![]() |

Hi,
I'm a newbie to this site, but not to KP. My KP problem is the back of my thighs. The "ONLY" two things that I have found that work for me are 50% glycolic acid and tanning for 20 minutes at least once a week. Before i tan(day before) i use the glycolic acid. If i only use the glycolic without tanning,i get minimal improvement. and visa versa if i only tan. But by combining the two,i am able to stay 100% KP free. Also,as a side note,I use the pricey tanning bed lotion "chocolate silk" before i tan. That possibly may also play a roll in keeping me KP free. The ingredients on most of those tanning bed lotions is a mile long. It's a possibility that one, some,or all of the ingredients in the lotion may also play a part in keeping my KP under control. ps. I order my Glycolic acid over the internet, and have for 3 years now. I've been very pleased with "MakeupArtistschoice.com. They offer different strengths of acid peels, and you can buy it in sample amts. Which is great, if you want to try it out before spending alot of $$$$. I hope this helps other "KP" thigh sufferers! |

Do you have any kp on your arms? I guess it would have the same effect on my arms as your thighs?!? Thanks for your input!

Hi babiesnurse,
Is this stuff complicated/time-consuming to use? And do you only use it once a week? Thanks! |

Can you use this if you're African American?

I also purchase from Makeup Artists Choice. I've used their 55% lactic acid peel (contains licorice extract - great for lightening scars). Haven't used the peels lately b/c of laser hair removal but when I did definately helped with bumps.
Their peels come with a prep solution which you apply to clean skin (mine also came with a soap-free cleanser - don't know if all peels do.) After the prep solution has completely dried you leave on the peel for 3-7 minutes (for the 55% lactic acid peel.) Then rinse off with soap and water and rebalance with the pH prep solution. Once or twice a week is the recommended usage. It's not very complicated to use, and the entire process should be no longer than 30 mins (I only used the peel on my arms), plus think of all the time you'll save not having to use other exfoliators! babiesnurse - have you tried any other products they offer? As mentioned they offer various strengths, some of them are extremely potent, be careful! Last edited by Nala; 07-06-2004 at 01:29 AM. |

Hi Nala.
Sorrryyyy for the delay in getting back to you. and the forum. I've been in Vegas this past week. Had a great time. It was Africa Hot, and I didn't win damnit...but still loved every worn out minute i was there! ha! You asked if i use anything else from Makeupartistschoice. I love the "velvet Vail" face cream. I use it on my face before i go to bed, under my make-up, and i use it sparingly after i glycolic my thighs....It is as GOOD as it gets, when it comes to wanting baby soft skin...nothing like it, IMO. I also use their soap free cleansers, and CP for eyes... I , at one time, only used the Youngblood make-up line..but switched to bare-minerals about a year ago. Young blood is great for a perfect skin color match though... and the site will send you alot of sample colors to try for about $5.00..(they may not anymore..im not sure.) How about you? what all have you tried?... Lets compare!!!! You may be using something that i just gotta try! ha! hope to hear back from you soon. |

Glad to hear you had great time in Vegas, babiesnurse. Funny to read Africa hot, because I’ll be there in a few weeks lol. Luckily, it’s not summer there so I’ll get to escape the heat for a little while…phew!
About makeupartistschoice - Other than the lactic peel, I’ve tried their CP serum on my arms (KP). I just love their stuff, it’s not cheap but it’s definitely a great value considering how much it would cost getting the same procedures done at a derm. I use bare minerals too, haven’t tried the Youngblood. What’s the difference in finish? A friend uses the Aromaleigh and it works great for her because she’s got oily skin, and it gives a matte finish. I tried the Sheercover – I didn’t like the brushes nor the foundation itself. All in all, mineral makeup is definitely good stuff. I’ve also used the camphor cleanser, it’s like whipped fluffy cream, and leaves your face nice and refreshed. Good for summertime! They have a TCA Peel (Trichloroacetic Acid) coming out soon, which is supposedly similar to the Obagi Blue Peel. I used the fast lash a while ago, it definitely gives you va va voom lashes, a bit much for everyday though! When I order the TCA, I’m definitely going to give the velvet veil a try. Used the soap free cleaners that came with the peel (sample) and I love that it’s so gentle. Such a product junkie! J |

I don't know why many people are successful with peeling. Has anyone tried glycolic acid from Glytone? I tried to exfoliate my arm with Glytone's fortified Gel and body wash. After a week, I felt the skin was smoother (the bumps were concealed but not cleared), but my skin became really dry. Now I don't use any glycolic acid any more because it made my skin look very unhealthy. Now I use Vitamine C , wich was packed in small bottle, and it has improved my skin after one week. I will keep you updated.
I have KP only one my right arm, and it looks really terrible with all the bumps and scars left from obsessed picking. I am so embarrassed at it, and I have never dared to show it to anyone, not even a dermotologist. It was so bad that I everyday wonder how I will live with it for the rest of my life. I have fairly smooth skin on my left arm, about which I never do anything. One more thing. I had really bad KP on my legs almost all my life, but it cleared off a year ago. I am know 30. I don't know if it will ever return. Has anyone experienced fluctuation of KP condition? Nabokovlu |

One more thing: When I used heavy glycolic acid, my skin first appeared dry, then it peeled off after two days. After he swell and redness subsided, my skin looked terribly dry and discolored.
Was it the normal process of skin peel? I was going to give up on skin peel. But as I read through the forum, I found many people persistantly doing it Just wonder if I have done it correctly. Thanks. Navokovlu |

Re: glycolic acid peel
Hi,
Navokovlu, I've had KP for as long as I can remember. I'm now 23 and I saw my first dermatologist when I was 18. He put me on Tazorac, Differin, Retin-A, you name it...I used it. Well, it all worked. I was the happiest girl ever. My legs had never been smoother and clearer, but all of the sudden all the bumps and spots came back. Since, then I've seen dermatologists, spent a lot of $$ to get those results I once had. My skin is now slowly looking better. I went to college after high school to Chicago where it's very cold and dry (not good for KP at all) and the dermatologists I was seeing never took the time to educate me about the condition. I have learned a lot about my skin and made changes in my diet. Through trial and error I have learned what works and what doesn't work. Now, I think I lost the main idea of what I was writing about. LOL Bri |
