Re: seed oil/cod liver oil/ fish oil ??
About three years ago I started taking a 1000 mg tablet of flax seed oil per day due to the general health benefits, however, I have not noticed any significant improvement in my KP as a result.

Quote:
Omega-3 Fatty Acids - July 1, 2004 - American Family Physician It supports the dosage you are taking as a preventative treatment for an otherwise healthy individ if I'm reading it correctly. The recommend for flaxseed oil only is 3000mg twice daily per this site: Flaxseed oil "One Tbsp liquid flaxseed oil per day, or 3,000 mg (capsules) twice daily is generally recommended as an appropriate initial dose." yikes! "The dosage to prevent and treat disease will vary depending on the amount of fatty acids in the diet and the type of disorder being treated." |

Re: seed oil/cod liver oil/ fish oil ??
I'm taking it as a supplement to my diet which is already rich in omega fatty acids. I should have stated in my original post that I also eat cereals and bread fortified with flax seed.
I will be shifting from tablets to real oil once my current bottle runs out, maybe I'll up the dosage and see how it goes. |

Re: seed oil/cod liver oil/ fish oil ??
Hi again Graham - I could be more clear too that I think I was _horribly_ deficient in EFAs before I started taking them. I had some chronic joint pain that has basically disappeared with EFA treatment and chronic sinusitis that has not been NEARLY as hard to manage this winter so I am inclined to keep up the dosage. My skin tone and KP have improved but not cured at this point. I don't know what is going to happen as I keep this up long term since I continue to reap healing benefits from improvements in my diet. It's one of those things I didn't think about in my 20s and 30s much, little changes then didn't seem to help or hurt much (some of it may have been where I lived during those years and how much thai food takeout with lots of veggies and very possibly stir fried in various oils...) but these days... well, I notice diet stuff much more. - bd
