KP and tattoos

Hello all, I am new here. I have KP on my arms, top of legs and buttocks. I don't really remember when it started, probably sometime in high school. I suffered from severe acne and went on accutane for 2 rounds, and around that time my KP got worse. Now its failry manageable, I exfolliate my skin and apply lac-H to it. I often make the mistake of forgetting to do this and regret it later when it gets worse. I don't have many active bumps, but i do have a lot of red dots which look like old scars.

I am planning on getting a tattoo on my upper arm, and i am wondering if KP will affect this. Has anyone had a problem with the two? I know the tattoo probably won't hide the KP...but i am hoping that the KP doesn't affect the healing of the tattoo. I assume it won't because the ink will be lower in the dermis. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I also have this fear that the products and cremes on my skin will ruin the quality of the tattoo.

Re: KP and tattoos

you should start with a small tattoo or part of a bigger one to see how the ink will effect your kp. get the small tattoo then wait a few months and see how the kp reacts.
it could possable clog up your pores leaving you worse off.
i hear that aha is suppost to be good for geting rid of those red dots.

Thanks for the information! My KP is very mild and not very noticeable, so i think it will be ok as long as i don't have a huge breakout right before i get tattooed. I suppose i will just hold off on the exfolliation and acid creams till the tattoo has healed. I am concerned about long term use of lac hydren over an inked area, but it seems like the tattoo ink will be deep enough...the sun is probably more of a problem!
