Re: Natural Health

AYNAS,

Yes, I'm well aware of the mercury problem. Doesn't it just steam you that we can't even eat from the sea and know it is 100% healthy!!! And then I think of the poor fish -- the chemicals they have to live in, filter through their gills and eat.

To combat mercury, and knowing it probably isn't a complete defence, I eat cilantro regularly. It supposidly removes mercury from the brain.

Selenium also helps by cancelling out mercury's toxic effects.
Selenium: Mercury's Magnet
Two Brazil nuts a day give sufficient selenium.

I am fortunate to live on the coast and be able to buy fresh fish daily, looking for mature, yet young fish. Mature, so that they have had time to reproduce. Young, so that they haven't had enough time to accumulate too much mercury.

Here is a good link for making healthy seafood choices:

(My other major source of protein is eggs. Yes, I know. The cholesterol issue.)

We do what we can, read what we can, and try to stay healthy, but it isn't easy in a world that is so full of toxins and chemicals.
