Bromelain and Papain???
Hello!
My KP is worse than ever, I have it on my legs and my arms and my back. ![]() Tomorrow I'm gonna by Bromelain-pills. Has anyone tried this stuff with sucess? My main problem is the red dots, so I'm looking for something to stop my skin from producing Keratin... ![]() I believe KP comes from the inside, so I'm also going to do a Vega-test, and start eathing healthier... Good luck to you all! This is really a hard struggle... |

Rocknroller,
Welcome to the KP Forum. Please let us know if the bromelain pills help you. I agree with you that KP originates within us. A very healthy life style and diet have to have a positive effect. Please keep in touch. kebod |

Re: Bromelain and Papain???
I don't know if it would be effective taken internally short term as most of the posts that I've read here seem to talk about disolving the keratin on the skin. But maybe long term it could work.
I wonder if it would work to take some bromelain tablets and disolve them in water and then pour that over the effected areas? Like I was thinking of getting these http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/vf/labels/007410HB.pdf and I might have a go at pouring them on my skin unless there is some good reason not too? Otherwise I was thinking of an Alba Botanica lavender enzyme scrub with bromelain and papain that I can get online. Also going to try oil pulling. Attack it on all fronts! |

Re: Bromelain and Papain???
^^ I honestly don't know if that would be a good idea. Bromelain and papain are enzymes, which once activated, will have to be disactivated, or else it may keep eating your skin away. They are used as meat tenderizers and are only disactivated at high temperature or at a certain acidic level (well below or above your skin ph level). Using products made with bromelain and papain are probably fine, but to actually dissolve some and poor them over your skin ... hmmm ... I'd do a little more research on it before trying it out...

Re: Bromelain and Papain???
OK maybe I won't try that then! I'll just get the enzyme scrub thing. Although I have read quite a few posts here where people say they have poured meat tenderiser on their skin (sometimes followed by ACV which would be acidic so maybe that's why.)
Still, I might try getting the pills to eat as they can't do any harm. |

Re: Bromelain and Papain???
If you eat bromelain and papain, I think you should do it with a meal, as they are digestive enzymes. I am no expert on this and suggest you ask for advice from the store where the bromelain is purchased.

Re: Bromelain and Papain???
I did my Vega-test today.
It turned out I was sensitive to lactose and a couple of other things. Nothing new, really. I'm gonna continue eating bromelain and staying away from bad food and see what happens... I wish for the best! I have noticed something interesting; since I stopped drinking milk and eating cheese my skin has become "worse". Instead of just the red dots on my thighs, it looks like a red sunburn or something... really ugly. I have almost no "bumbs" now... Some of the dots looks like they have grown bigger... but "under" the skin, so to speak. Sorry for my bad english... ![]() My skin is also very dry, and I have noticed new dots here and there... ![]() I don't know if this is a good sign or not, because the KP on my arms and back are still the same. I'm trying to ignore my bad skin right now, ´cause I'm going on a date with a really beautiful woman this weekend. I can't let this bring me down... |

Re: Bromelain and Papain???
I ordered papain tablets a couple of days ago and I can't wait for them to arrive. I'm going to crush them up and use them as a scrub for my legs and buttocks. I pray it'll work... even if it's just a tiny bit.

Re: Bromelain and Papain???
Hey,
This is an interesting idea. I'm thinking about trying taking bromelain pills and washing with a bromelain and papain scrub. Where can I buy the pills, and does anyone have any advice for what scrubs would be good? Thanks! |

Re: Bromelain and Papain???
I've been looking at this:
Avalon Organics | Cleansers and this one: Pineapple Papaya Facial Scrub | Kiehl's The first one has them quite low down on the list but it is much cheaper in the UK (I can get hold of the Avalon one for about $16 whereas the Kiehl one is about $45 in UK shops!). I haven't tried either though yet. I thought Avalon also did a tropical enzyme scrub with them in but I can't find it now. Maybe I got confused. I haven't bought the pills yet as I'm trying the sea buckthorn thing first (which I think might be working but it's only been a couple of days) but they are available in health food shops like Holland and Barrett over here (who deliver to EU countries) so I would ask at any kind of health food shop near you with a good range of vitamins although I'm sure you can order online otherwise. |
