Coconut Oil in the bath
I started to use coconut oil in the bath and I find that my skin feels a lot softer, has anyone else done this?

Re: Coconut Oil in the bath
Heh, good idea. I haven't tried it because my skin doesn't get along well with oil (weird red painful bumps), but I'm glad it works for you. (;

Re: Coconut Oil in the bath
Okay. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I get my coconut oil from Whole Foods and it's packaged for cooking. Is this the right kind to use on my skin? It comes in a solid form, but once it hits my skin it immediately melts.
I love how it immediately moisturizes my skin, but does anyone know how to make it smell better? To me it smells a little bit like oily baked goods. =T |

Re: Coconut Oil in the bath
MeV,
Some coconut oils smell divine and some smell (and taste) like cooking oil. You will just have to experiment to find a good smelling oil. My favorite is Mountain Rose. Also the cheapest. It is ordered on-line. For store-bought, I like Nature's Way EFA Gold, but even it can vary in aroma from one purchase to the next. The oil that doesn't smell great can be used in cooking. Or you could add a few drops of rose oil or other essential oil to give it a nice aroma for body moisturizing. kebod |

Kebod,
Thanks for the info! I didn't know that coconut oil could vary so much in taste and smell. I'm currently using Jarrow brand, but I may make the switch. MeV |

Re: Coconut Oil in the bath
Virgin Coconut oil tastes and smells much better then Refined coconut oil. This is because some of the stuff from the coconut itself is still in the oil, so the Virgin oil will retain its smell and flavor. I use Coconut oil for Oil Pulling, and it tastes pretty good. Its wonderful in cooking. Give it a try in your next stir fry, or replace butter with it in a batch of cookies or muffins.
