Thyroid and Coconut Oil

Hi!

I have just joined on behalf of my daughter although I have a mysterious skin condition that may benefit from these forums as well.

I was interested in the improvement gained by coconut oil.

I also noted the post about a connection between low thryoid and KP. Just wanted to point out that a benefit of coconut oil is improved thryoid function (according to its promoters). Coconut oil is also beneficial in ridding the body of particular toxins.

I thought these were very interesting and it gives me a place to begin searching.

Best to all!

Re: Thyroid and Coconut Oil

Haha, coconut oil does a lot of things. It is one of God's greatest gifts to man, and if it weren't for the chicanery of certain people twisting the words of Bruce Fife C.N, N.D, aswell as the soy bean industry and the general ignorance of the medical establishment, it would be utilized much more by the general public than it is. Yeah, it causes heart disease alright. That's why the Pacific Islanders died off a long time ago. Right........But that's neither here nor there.

It isn't ideal for severe cases, but coconut oil works as an anti-inflammatory. I've been eating and using it on my skin for a year. Although never consistently on my "KP." I have most recently changed that, however, and am now using it daily. But the anti-inflammatory effect of coconut oil adds to its worthiness as a skin treatment for the condition.

The thyroid is actually what my mother always felt was the cause. In all honesty, it very well could be for many people. In fact, just yesterday my psychiatrist informed me that my TSH was at 8, and I will need to visit my GP for a Thyroxine prescription(although I would prefer Armour). Who knows, maybe it'll help me. Right now I've got a beefy arsenal setting up really quick here. I'll finally put the kibosh on all this "KP" nonsense. It's absurd to think that I have to live with this. The key, I suppose, is to refuse to be afraid. Never back down. The mind body connection.

But thyroid, mmhmm, coconut oil can be a great augment to society's arsenal against hypothyroidism. It isn't the sole "cure"(and Bruce Fife never claimed otherwise)or anything like that, but using it as food along with your supervised medical treatment appears to be an effective approach, to say the least.

It speeds up the metabolism and increases energy, I know this because I've been using it for a year, and my brother ate it out of a black container every day and we both benefited measureably.

You know, one of the great things about coconut oil is that for the kind of fat that it is, it is actually relatively low calorie. Exactly 6.8 calories per gram, compared to 9 calories per gram. And certainly, that doesn't hurt either.
