Question Whats up with Tea Tree Oil?

about a month ago my mom bought me a big bottle of Hemp Tea Tree Soap with a ton of organic oils in it (coconut, olive, jojoba...)

I was weary of this product cuz its a soap and i did notice that it really dried out my skin but i think i've had some success with it- nothing that noticeable, nothing worse either

Is this a good use of tea tree oil?? is tea tree oil even that great to use against kp?

I use coconut oil after i shower so that helps with moisturizing but i hate the smell of it. I am planning on getting an aha lotion or Soul Owner cream to help get rid of dead skin cells but should i put it on after or before the coconut oil?

Anything you guys know about this stuff would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much!

Re: Whats up with Tea Tree Oil?

Hi luvdat - I use tea tree oil either straight or in another oil to cope with secondary infection (whiteheads) of kp plugs on my face, chest and even legs right now. I like it for that reason. see my blog for links to med studies of tea tree oil's antimicrobial strengths if you're interested. also, hemp is high in EFAs, um omega-3's maybe? and our skin does absorb some things that go on it, think nicotine patches, birth control patches, vitamin E definitely, etc... - bd

Re: Whats up with Tea Tree Oil?

Oh yeah, antiseptic, antifungal.

I use 5% benzoyl peroxide for acne, and I have for years. It is quite significant to point out that 5% Tea Tree Oil is as effective(though not as fast acting) as the equivalent in benzoyl peroxide. Now, because benzoyl peroxide isn't particularly healthy, Tea Tree Oil could serve as a good substitute or addition.

Of course, that is in the case of mild to moderate acne only.
