Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Can someone please help me out.
I've just read on a site about SBT that it may cause bowel problems after having it for 8-10 days consecutively. This really worries me. And it also says that if it is taken in long term use then it may give Kidney problems.

I really don't know what to do cause it's my 10th day and I still have had no improvement or even a sign of a breakout yet, my skin still feels the same. In fact the soap just makes me skin feel dry.

I really don't know what to do, I don't want these side effects cause I'm still young. I spent quite a bit on these products and I'm just a student raised by a single parent and I don't want my money to go to waste, I already hardly have any cash laying around it is. I really had hope for this but now I don't know what to do.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Should I stop taking the capsules for a couple of days then start again? or should I just continue? An adult please help me out, it's difficult for a 16 year old like me to work this out

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Missmba,

I can't find anything on the internet linking sea buckthorn with bowel problems. I did read that it has been used for over a 1,000 years in traditional oriental medicine, so it obviously has a history of long-time use.

I have no personal experience with SBT, so I can't answer your question.

Have any of our members used SBT long-term and can reply to Missmba?

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Kebod,

It says so on this site.

AltHealth | Help & Advice | Supplements | Omega 7

Quote:
Seabuckthorn should be taken for a maximum of eight to ten days consecutively or else it can lead to dependence on it to have a bowel movement.5 Some people take peppermint tea or capsules with buckthorn to prevent griping, an unpleasant sensation of strong contractions in the colon sometimes induced by buckthorn.
I've had these contractions quite a lot, I'm wondering if SBT is ever gonna actually work on my skin rather than my insides <_<!

And any help is appreciated. Thank you. .

For now I stopped using it for a day or two.

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Missmba,

I think you should follow the advice on the web site you provided. Do you think this means that you can take SBT for 8-10 days, then stop, then take it again for another 8-10 days? Did you try peppermint tea while you were taking SBT?

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

I haven't tried Peppermint tea, only SBT capsules and Soap.

It isn't doing anything so far anyway Stopped using it for now, will start again after 2 day break from it.

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Dear All,
I'm a KP sufferer living in Budapest, Hungary. Unfortunately we cannot buy Aubrey Organics products here and they cannot be ordered by Amazon.com either. I was wondering if there's anyone so kind that could order products for me and send them to me (by UPS probably). I would pay all the charges of course.
Thanks for your help!

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

hi. i have read your blog about the demodex parasite and i think i have the same case. i started realizing i had these reddish pimple-like rashes on my upper arm when i was in college and it started to spread in my body. when i visited the derma she told me it was keratosis pilaris. she gave me a presciption: betamethasone lotion and 5% colloidal oatmeal moisturizer. she instructed me to use the betamethasone for 7 days only. afterwhich i started using the other lotion. after 2 wks of usage, my KP started to get worse. my upper arm now seem to look like sandpaper because it grew in number. even my leg already had KP. and what's most irritating is that it is soooooo itchy. as in you will be tempted to scratch it every now and then.
do you think this is normal? do i have the same case? what do i do next?

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Hey you guys, i have a question.

i just started using my seabuckthorn soap today, and immediately after i've used it, i started to get really really itchy. I used baby oil after i used the soap to keep moisture. Is the itching bad, i read it's normal, but not when it happens too quick !! this is the first time i've used it.

is it because i've used baby oil afterwards?

i normally use baby oil before i got my soap, but i don't itch after.

so is the soap working or is it the combination of both that's why it itches so much?

so to sum it all up is...

am i itching because i've used baby oil afterwards?

will baby oil effect the treatment process? like not help. if i use it after the soap?

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

If you are really concerned about mites, a good and inexpensive thing to try at the outset of your treatment would be a Borax bath. Borax is readily available in the laundry soap section of grocery stores. 3 cups of it in a hot bath, soak as long as you can including soaking your hair for at least 10 minutes. Do that about three times in the first week of mites treatment is my guess and wash all your laundry with borax for a while,

I am basing this on:
borax bath - Topix
and:
The Earth Clinic collection of Mite Infestation Cures.

fwiw - Burt's Bees has a lotion, daily carrot or something, that includes borax in it - check ingredients. and I've noticed that Weleda's Sea Buckthorn body oil also has aracides (mite killers) in it - they are not just relying on the SBO.
But SBO is a great supplement and topical for healing skin so it should help speed healing. It sure does for me when I spend for it. - bd

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Hi everyone, I am new to this site. I have a daughter who is 9 yrs. old who has had KP since she was a toddler. Her doctors never gave me a straight answer on what it was, just use lotion. It so happens that I have a client that is a doctor and thought I would ask her about it. She actually laughed at me and said that she, herself and her own son has KP. She went to dermotalogist for years and nothing worked. She had said by chance she was always feeling bloating after eating. She said she decided to stop eating wheat products and would eat gluco-free food. She noticed after a few months that not only was her bloating gone, but that her KP was pretty much gone. She now has no signs of KP. She also said that she had started taking Vitamin D tablets just because she was deficent. She said to give a try, so that is what I will be trying with my daughter. Just thought I would give you some info. If this worked for a doctor who was suffering for years, it might just work for her(my daughter). Good luck to everyone.
