Conventional treatment for demodex

Hi,

I live in Mexico and I don't think I'll be able to get Sea Buckthorn lotions, etc etc. Do you believe using a conventional treatment for Demodex, like an antibiotic with ivermectin and a cream with permetrin would help to treat KP too? It is supposed to be successful in treating dermodex, but i don't know if it will do the trick in this case. Has anyone tried this?

Thanks,
A.G.

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

You've mentioned that the parasites do not live in dry places etc.
But i thought keratosis pilaris was caused by very very dry skin (that's what my dermatogolist said)
So err, i don't mean to sound rude but i don't understand or i maybe doing something wrong, because i was told to KEEP it moisturized (mykp) ..sholdn't that worsen the problem?

i am willing to try this method, although i have another question, currently right now i'm uising AMlactin to moisturize my skin (kp), should i continue it if i try this sea buckthorn method? or does seabuckthorn has it's own moisturizer? lol

please and ty.

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

I've been using the Sea Buckthorn Soap for about 2 weeks now. The soap made my skin feel very soft and less bumpy, but the spots are still there.

Midnightsun,

I don't have a complete answer for your question, but I think -- and this is just my opinion -- that KP may have several different causes. For some, it may be mites, for others, dry skin, or candida, or digestive problems. If there are different causes, this would explain why there are different remedies. What helps one person doesn't help someone else. Maybe for the majority, it is dry skin, but there seem to be too many different remedies for there to only be one cause.

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

I started using Sea Buckthorn soap and oil (I choosed oil instead of cream because it's more concentrated) from Weleda four months ago.

In the first days, I noticed some little improvement but some weeks later it started getting worst. I thought it was the normal process (because it's supposed to get worst at first but you don't have to stop using these products).

Apart from the worsening, I feel my skin drier so I decided stop using the soap. It was a great decision, I came back using my usually glycerin shower gel and the dryness dissapeared.

I continued using the Sea Buckthorn oil but there was no improvement so I bought Sea Buckthorn cream (from Weleda too) because I started to think maybe the oil wasn't a good choice for my skin.

Nothing happens, my skin was the same.

Even so I decided to continue and I alternate the oil with the cream depending on how bussy I was that day or wich one I had close at hand.

In the last months it's getting really really worst. The KP has extended to another areas (like almost the totally of my back arms) and another areas in my legs. The treatment have been really really usefull to control the redness but I have a lot of bumps and really big bumps.

Now, I don't know what to do Should I stop or continue for some more weeks?

I know each skin need different time to recover but... any improvement in FOUR MONTHS? and now it's really worst than when I started, I swear it (althoug the redness is lower).

(Sorry for my english, it's not my native tongue ).

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Hi all,

I'm new here. I'm wondering which type of Seabuckthorn derivatives are you guys talking about (killing the Demodex mites). Coz there 's like Seabuckthorn SEED oil /extract AND Seabuckthorn FRUIT(PULP) oil/extract. Of what I've gathered their component % nutrients / fatty acids are pertty significant. Could that be why some work for others some don't?
Could it be the higher the % better or vice-versa (too much of a good thing render it ineffective?).
So which one works best for killing Demodex - SEED or FRUIT(PULP)?
Sir Duckles or anyone ?

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

I have used and continue to use seabuckthorn soap every other day for a few months now, and I have had no breakouts, nor have I noticed any significant improvement with my KP from the soap alone.

Yea dude i hear u!
When i take Zinc it makes my stomach hurt too... maybe cause our body isn't use to it.
Anyway, after researching about SB i'm not going to use this whole Sea Buckthorn regimen cause it's toooOOo much!...

I started using AHA 7% glycolic acid and so far i do see improvement! and i've also tanned. I know that if i use chemical peels it will sure peel of all the KP! anyway i'm going to get a perscription for a better % and cause it costs too much

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Juet,

How much zinc are you taking and do you take it with a meal?
You should be taking 15 to 25 mg. a day. I take 50 mg. a day to rebuild my immune system, always with food.

I'm using the capsules and the soap

Hi Kebod, I'm taking 25 mg a day and with meals. How come you're taking more than usual? and yes my stomach would hurt in the beginnings cause i didn't take the zinc with meals. But i'm better.

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Juet,

I'm taking the recommended amount to rebuild my immune system. It suffered when I took a lot of antibiotics. A weakened immune system then led to an overgrowth of candida. Re-building the immune system is key to overcoming candidiasis.
