this bath got rid of my KP
I don't recommend that anyone else do this treatment, but it has worked for me:
I came upon this treatment by accident. This summer, I swam in a chlorine pool, which had salt added to it. After a few days of pool dipping, I noticed my KP was gone !! I was able to reproduce the same wonderful results (clear skin, no bumps ) in my bathtub. Here's what I do: I fill the tub with comfortably hot water to reach the backs of my thighs, and my butt, so four inches of water. I add Kosher salt and taste the water... when it tastes salty, I know it's the right amount of salt. Next, I add one to two Tablespoons of chlorox bleach...just enough to smell like a chlorine pool. I soak for about 20 minutes to half an hour. I take a shower to rinse off and I don't use a washcloth. I found the washcloth gave me some large zits after the salt/chlorine bath. Probably because skin is 'open' so bacteria from washcloth gets in. I do this salt bath whenever I start to feel bumpy...which in my case is about every 10 days. This has been a good treatment for me. This has been my personal experience that I am sharing with the KP community, and I don't promote it in any way nor encourage anyone to do this treatment, I am merely sharing my experience w/you |

Re: this bath got rid of my KP
Hi! Just wanted to know if you had only bumps or bumps with red dots? If you had bumps with red dots did it take them away as well? Thanks

Re: this bath got rid of my KP
first post. you bleach yourself? i mean i'm all about anything that get the job done but i'm not sure if sitting in a soluition that i could clean my bathroom with sounds appealing. however reading on some of these other post maybe that too kills some of the "parasites" crawling in our follicles. who knows.

Actually, that sounds like what they recommend when your water becomes undrinkable (the bleach ratio, though I think it is 1-2 tspns...) due to contamination, e.g., e coli. I'm not surprised, really, that this is working for you after everything I've read about KP, and what has worked for me in the past, and what I've seen others post as far as success stories go. I'd say this is (by far) less risky than sunning. I wonder if Epsom Salt would work as well? |

Re: this bath got rid of my KP
I'm really glad that this has worked for you.
Thanks for sharing! But have you thought about the long-term effects? Is it safe to soak yourself in water containing bleach every 10 days? |

Re: this bath got rid of my KP
It's the same as soaking in a chlorine pool. It's the same chemical, and the same concentration. Once again, I will state this is my personal experience which I am merely reporting to the KP community, in no way do I promote it or encourage anyone to use this treatment

Re: this bath got rid of my KP
The bleach water theory is very interesting. It's common for wrestlers to get ring worm (spelling?). It's also common for them to put straight bleach on it to kill it (ouch, I know). They say it works. Who knows maybe the bleach or chlorine somehow kills the KP. Wouldn't it be great if someone did a controlled study on this.

I hear plain salt does the trick.

Re: this bath got rid of my KP
I've tried salt separately, and bleach separately, and it didn't work. Only the combo of bleach and salt bath works on my KP. I'm guessing it's a synergistic effect. Once again, I will state my disclaimer, that I am merely, reporting and sharing my experience w/the KP community. I do not promote or encourage anyone to use my method, which I posted as the original message on this thread

Re: this bath got rid of my KP
Izzy, have you tried using baking soda instead of bleach? I wonder if that would yield the same positive result. (it would certainly be safer in the long run ... I think)

Re: this bath got rid of my KP
Never tried baking soda. Tried epson salts, w/o bleach. Didn't work

Has anyone else tried this solution? If so, what was the outcome?

In using such a small amount, what makes you think the bleach would not safe? |
